Maxine Sutton Holton

Maxine Sutton Holton, 85, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2020.

Due to the ongoing concerns regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, a private service will be held at a later date. Interment will be at Black Jack Baptist Church Cemetery.

Maxine Anita Sutton was born March 27, 1935 in Cairo, GA, the daughter of John and Mildred Sutton. She married James Bryant Holton and they made their home in Cairo and later in Bainbridge. Maxine was a member of Blackjack Baptist Church.

Maxine lived a simple life and enjoyed every minute of it. Her green thumb gave her many opportunities to share beauty with those around her. She volunteered countless hours at Memorial Hospital & Manor believing you should invest in others and do good every day. Maxine was most proud of her granddaughter, Ashley, and reserved bragging rights for her accomplishments.

Survivors include her son, Jimmy Bryant Holton of Bainbridge, GA; her siblings, Betty Pritchett of Cairo, GA, Donna Gail Merritt of Moultrie, GA, and Lawrence Sutton of Goose Creek, SC; and her granddaughter, Ashley Nicole Holton of Athens, GA. In addition to her parents, Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, James B. Holton; and her siblings, Bo Sutton and Minnadean Clayton.
