J E Roland

Mr. J E Roland, age 85, passed away Thursday, February 27,2020, at his home in Bainbridge, Georgia.  Services for Mr. Roland will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 1, 2020, in the Cadwell Chapel of Cox Funeral Home.  The Rev. Scott Messer will officiate.  Christopher Roland, Josh Roland, Dutch Pace, Jerrold Owen, and Mike Lorenz will serve as pallbearers.  The family will receive friends one hour before the service beginning at 1:00 p.m.

E. Roland was born September 28, 1934 in Miller County, Georgia, to Jesse Roland and Edna Cato Roland.  His parents have preceded him in death.  J E married Vevelon Long.  They were married 40 years before her death.   Later he married Luevonia Grubbs.   They were married 15 years before her passing.  J E owned and, with his two sons, operated Colquitt Well Drilling for many years.  He later worked at McClendon Meat Company as a butcher.  He was a member of New Salem Freewill Baptist Church.  J E was a student of the Bible.  He knew the history involved and loved to share the “living” word contained there.  J E loved the Lord.  He never judged anyone and shared great advice.  He offered tremendous support to his friends and loved ones.  Always positive, he was ready to share a laugh.  J E Roland dearly loved his children and grandchildren.  He will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.

J E Roland is survived by his daughter, Melanie Owen and husband, Jerrold of Morristown, Tennessee; siblings, Nellie Lane of Iron City, Georgia and Jerry Roland of Colquitt, Georgia; grandchildren, Brandi Roland, Jonathan Smith, Christopher Roland, Josh Roland,  Jordan Owen, and Madison Roland; and great-grandchildren, Dutch Pace, Rian Smith, Jameson Smith, Gunner Roland, Brantley Smith, and Vevolyn Smith.  Along with his parents and wives, J E   was preceded in death by his sons, Kenneth Roland and Joseph Roland; his sister, Jewel Chambers; and grandson, Brandon Michael Roland.
