J.R. Lambert was born August 19, 1939 in Bainbridge, GA, the youngest son of Vince and Myrtle Gainous Lambert.  J.R. was a member of Climax Baptist Church. He married the love of his life, Donna, in August of 1984.  He spent his working days as a farmer starting in the late 50’s until his retirement in 1998.

J.R. could talk the horns off a billy goat and never met a stranger.  His sense of humor usually meant there was never a dull moment when you were with him.  Specialty fly fishing was J.R.’s favorite past time with dove and quail hunting a close second. Known as “Big Daddy” by all his grandchildren, whom he especially loved and adored.

Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Donna Hand Lambert; his children, Teresa McMillan, and her husband, Greg, of Bainbridge, Aaron Goodman and his wife, April, of Branford, FL, and Jay Lambert and his wife, Mikki, also of Bainbridge; his siblings, Betty L. Parker, and her husband, Johnson, Harold Lambert, and Wayne Lambert, and his wife, Pee Wee, all of Bainbridge; his grandchildren, Garrett, Tate, Dillon, Sara, Anna Beth, Ashley and Brooke, and Douglas and Kayla; and his great-grandchild, Collins.  In addition to his parents, J.R. was preceded in death by his grandson, Adam Goodman.

The Lambert family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Memorial Manor, Hospice, and Drs. Cochran and Myers for all of their heartfelt compassion and care of J.R.

  1. Praying for each and every one of the family members. JR is now in heaven sitting with the King of Kings and in no more pain. We all have loved ones in heaven that I am sure welcomed him with open arms.. May God give those who loved him here on Earth the peace, strength and faith needed to continue on their earthly journey until they meet again.

  2. Praying for the family, he was not only a patient to me, but he was also a friend. Mr.Lambert I’m truly going to miss visiting you and seeing you smile when I walk through the door, but you have gained your wings and the Lord has called you home, R.I.H. J.R.Lambert❤????❤????

  4. Hi, Donna. Don Bennett, now here in Statesboro, Ga., where I am (semi-retired) still in the diamond & jewelry business, but doing business in my home from an luxurious office & shop, selling nationally (and internationally) via my internet website. As you probably know, I closed my downtown store in Bainbridge in April of 2003, and moved to Savannah to be near my sister and brother-in-law, (both in declining health) and both of whom passed away in 2008. I just now learned of J.R.’s passing. I am so sorry, Donna. J.R. was my FAVORITE FRIEND. I recall how great it was for me to be on the receiving end of J.R.’s “great sense of humor”, for which he was so well known. Specifically, I recall (in 2008, one of the last times that I was in Bainbridge) when you hosted a dinner with Harold Lambert (and his girlfriend, after his wife had passed away), and with Betty Parker and her family, when you commented about how “rude” my 2nd wife, Mickey, had been to you when you were in my store in downtown Bainbridge, and I got laughs from all of your family present at the dinner when I stated that: “My mother didn’t like Mickey, my 185 lb. Rottweiler didn’t like Mickey, and you know something, Donna, “A MAN SHOULD LISTEN TO HIS MOTHER AND HIS DOG”! I really do miss times like that, Donna. I am thinking seriously about making a 3 – 4 day trip over to Bainbridge within the next several weeks, and I would welcome the opportunity to touch base with you and your family one evening. Giving me that 3 – 4 day “window” of time would enable me to visit (individually) with several really good friends and to see my ‘former’ hometown of Bainbridge (and even visit Climax, where I lived from 1990 – 2003 in Hidden Springs. Again, my heartfelt condolences for your loss of J.R. He was my favorite. Take care, Donna.

    Don Bennett
