Annie Corene Hyatt

Annie Corene Hyatt, age 90, passed away at her home, surrounded by her loving family, Sunday, March 31, 2019. Graveside services will be held at Roselawn Memory Gardens, 1:00 pm, Wednesday, April 3. Serving as pall bearers are Trent Hyatt, Bo Hyatt, Jamie Phillips, Conner Hyatt, Tate Lambert, Tanner Cook, Will Henry, Garrett Lambert, Cole Hyatt, and Logan Holley. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, 6:00 – 8:00 pm, at the Cadwell Chapel of Cox Funeral Home.

Annie Corene Baxter Hyatt was born June 7, 1928 in Bainbridge, Georgia. Her parents, John Edgar Baxter and Mary Leobie Cannon, have preceded their daughter in death. Corene was a talented seamstress. She sewed for many years at commercial companies like Jack Winters, Dickies, and Ithica before opening her own shop. Corene served her customers and friends for over 30 years at Sew and Save. Corene took exceptional care of her family and friends. She was a great cook and always willing to share her meals with those she cared about. Corene Hyatt will be deeply missed by her family and many friends.

Corene Baxter Hyatt is survived by her children, Peggy Hyatt, David Hyatt, Barbara Phillips, and Lewis Hyatt (Charlotte), all of Bainbridge; siblings, Preston Baxter, Gene Baxter, Billy Wayne Baxter, and Mary Baxter; grandchildren, Nikki Henry, Tami Eldridge, Jamie Phillips, Bo Hyatt, Mikki Lambert, Trent Hyatt, Lark Holley, Lexi Hyatt, and Jennifer Wesley Brock; many great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Louis Hyatt; sister, Ados Ducker; brother, Buddy Baxter; and parents.

  1. Corene was the sweetest, caring lady imaginable! She always was smiling and happy to be practicing her craft. So many years we went to Corene for our sewing needs. She will be greatly missed by this whole community! We love you Corene, RIP.
