Wilma Eugenia Mobley Brinson

Mrs. Wilma Eugenia Mobley Brinson, age 92, passed away early Saturday, December 1, 2018, at Memorial Manor, Bainbridge, Georgia. Service for Mrs. Brinson will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 4, 2018, at Whigham Baptist Church, Whigham, Georgia. The Rev. Jerry Robertson and Rev. Bob Knight will officiate. The service will conclude at the church. Mrs. Brinson will be interred in Woodlawn Cemetery. Wallace Chason, Terry Parker, Cecil Gibbs, Harrell King, Dannie Hurst, George Trulock, Curt Vanlandingham and Sean Smith will serve as pallbearers.

Wilma was born January 24, 1926 in Whigham, Georgia. Her parents, Daniel Eugene Mobley and Anna Coreilla Maxwell Mobley, have preceded her in death. On August 2, 1946 Wilma married Robert Leon Brinson. After 43 years together, Robert passed away in 1989. Wilma worked for the Grady County School System. She was the secretary of the Whigham School for many years. Wilma loved working at the school and loved her community. At one time, she served on the Whigham City Council. Wilma was a faithful member of the Whigham Baptist Church. She shared her smile and served the local hospital by volunteering with the Grey Ladies organization. Wilma loved to travel and loved to go to the pond and fish.

Wilma Brinson is survived by her children, Faye E. Smith (Don) of Climax, Georgia, Larry Brinson (Sherrey) of Cibilo, Texas, Travis Brinson (Suellen) of Whigham, Georgia, Martha Payne of Cordele, Georgia, and Raiford Brinson, Port Saint Lucie, Florida; grandchildren, Brent Brinson (Lara), Tracy George (Adam), Stacy Robinson (Chuck), Tully Payne (Setrina), and Christy Conley (Devan); 16 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Pat Brinson; and sister, Ruth Mobley Elian. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Charles M. Brinson; son-in-law, Larry Payne; daughter-in-law, Martha I. Brinson; and siblings, James Elrod Mobley, Betty Mobley Hurst Byrd, David R. Mobley, Tommy Mobley, Jimmy R. Mobley, Julian Kenneth Mobley, Ronald Maxwell Mobley, and George G. Mobley.

The family is gathering at the home of Travis and Suellen Brinson, 152 Christopher Avenue N.E., Whigham, Georgia.

  1. Ms. Wilma was a loving, kind and supportive presence at Whigham School. Just seeing her picture with her obituary warms my heart. You, her children, were also a special lot when I knew you, and I’m sure you have grown even better with age. May God comfort you and your families.
