Nadine Dykes White

Nadine Dykes White, 86, of Attapulgus, GA, passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2018.

A private graveside funeral service was held on Friday, August 24, 2018 at Attapulgus Cemetery.

Nadine Dykes was born July 22, 1932 in Bainbridge, GA, the daughter of Elwood Wallace Dykes and Annie Eliza Spooner Dykes. She was a graduate of Attapulgus High School, Class of 1949, and a member of Attapulgus Baptist Church.

Nadine was a feisty but compassionate woman with a loving spirit. Her grandchildren and caretaker felt the depth of her love in every moment they shared. Nadine enjoyed gardening and kept her lawn manicured. She was also very nostalgic. Treasures from the past included an extensive Betty Boop collection.

Survivors include her children, Diamtha Loraine Herberg of Madison, AL, Elizabeth Ann Sekula of Attapulgus, GA, and Thomas Robert Butler, Jr. of Tallahassee, FL; her brother Maynor Dykes of North Carolina; her sixteen grandchildren and her twenty-one great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Nadine was preceded in death by her siblings, Christine, Gus, Polly, Jewel, Vondale, Emerson, Elwood Jr., Julian, and an infant brother.

  1. My condolences to the family. Please keep in mind the words of John 5:28, 29, 2 Corinthians 1:3,4 and Acts 24:15. Take comfort in knowing that Mr. Otis Williams is not suffering. Comfort each other. Express your love for one another while you can because we do not know what tomorrow will bring.

I believe in the resurrection hope mentioned in the bible (Acts 24:15) and it gives me comfort when I think of my many loved ones sleeping in death. I hope the same hope will bring you comfort.
