TIFTON – Students interested in getting a head start on the fall semester can enroll in summer term courses at the Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College main campus in Tifton, ABAC at Moultrie, ABAC at Bainbridge, or ABAC at Blakely. Summer term classes begin May 29 on the Tifton and Moultrie campus and May 30 on the Bainbridge and Blakely campus.
The main campus will offer classes during the summer in the areas of mathematics, literature, history, agriculture, science, nursing, and physical education. ABAC at Moultrie will offer an English class. A wide array of online, hybrid, and lecture classes will be offered through the ABAC at Bainbridge and ABAC at Blakely locations. Students can also take advantage of ABAC online courses. Most summer classes do not meet on Fridays.
“There are a variety of perks for students interested in taking classes during the summer term,” ABAC Enrollment Counselor Brooke Jernigan said. “While ABAC provides smaller class sizes and one-on one engagement with faculty during fall and spring semesters, summer semester also provides students the chance to experience an ABAC class in those settings.”
Students who are graduating from high school in May can also take classes over the summer. That includes those students who will be attending ABAC and those who may be attending a different college or university in the fall.
“Summer term students take a course or two instead of the traditional 15 or more hour load that happens in the fall and spring,” Jernigan said. “By taking a smaller hour load in the summer, it can be a lot easier to adjust to college life for the first time. The summer also provides students the chance to sharpen study skills, find the appropriate school, work, social life balance, and perhaps take a course that may seem a little more intimidating.”
Transient students can also enroll at ABAC during the summer term by completing the ABAC application online and then submitting it with the $20 application fee along with the transient permission, a copy of their driver’s license, and immunization forms.
Students interested in financial aid as a transient student should contact the financial aid office at their home institution. The deadline for tuition payment and fees for all students enrolling for the summer term is May 23.
The ABAC Office of Admissions can be reached by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org or through the website at www.abac.edu/admissions. For information on the class in Moultrie, interested persons can call (229) 891-7235.
The summer term runs through July 23 with final exams set for July 24-25 for the Tifton and Moultrie campus. On the Bainbridge and Blakely campus, the summer term runs through July 24 with final exams set for July 25-26. ABAC fall semester classes begin Aug. 15.
