I am just curious, if in fact there are children witnessing acts of violence repeatedly, is DFACS not following up with the family? Very possibly they are and I am just out of the information loop.

  1. Also, is it not possible to start requiring counseling as part of a sentence of Domestic Violence, completion of anger management program, if there is substance involved, requirement of drug testing and completion of attending so many Alcoholic Anon or Narc Anon meetings, and if they don’t within a reasonable time, put a warrant out for them and arrest them. Maybe this is happening also and I just am not informed on the subject. I know this is done in other places in the US.

As far as the custodial parent it is their responsibility to keep their children out of harms way, to be in a safe, thriving environment. I know this area is limited in resources at this time, but a consideration is trying to have Domestic Violence Counseling for women and children. Abuse is not only physical, but emotional, mental, sexual and verbal.

  2. The way I see this situation is, if she had pressed charges the first time that night, then the other things would not have happened.

The thing about anger management is who you are,I know this as a Fact!!

  3. It states in O.C.G.A. 17-4-20.1 “the officer shall not base the decision of whether to arrest and charge a person on the specific consent of the victim or on a request by the victim solely or on consideration of the relationship of the parties.”

“she” didn’t have to press charges, read the Georgia code above taken from the article on this site.

Please define your statement “the thing about anger management is who you are, I know this as a Fact”

  4. I know this for a fact, because it happened to someone in my family where TWO people did the SAME thing and ONE was arrested and the other was NOT!!

  5. The laws should be to protect the victims not the maggots who keep preying on them. Don’t ask the victim to press charges, get the maggot off the street and don’t waste our tax dollars on them either. How many times can one person be arrested and back out on the street. Our law enforcement doesn’t stand a chance….it’s like the teachers in the classroom…keep the peace but don’t dare hold anyone accountable or punish them. Wake up people…take back our community or just turn it over to these maggots…those are your choices…there is no such thing as politically correct when dealing with scum. Wouldn’t you rather log onto bainbridgega.com and see all the good being done in our community. Why does such a small town have such a long arrest column every single issue of the newspaper? It’s because the same scum keeps breaking the law and the police officers can only arrest them, the rest is up the the judicial system. Stop letting the lawyers pad their pockets getting these scum-bags off on technicalities….they’re being paid with drug money or the money from where these scum pawned something they’ve stolen…doesn’t that make the lawyer an accessory to the crime or something?? It’s pathetic and it needs to stop! These maggots don’t need therapy either…they need to be punished to the full extent of the law!

  6. This is pathetic! These maggots have no business being on our streets, quit playing with them…and the only therapy they need is the mximum punishment allowed by law. And leave the attorneys out of it! After all, if the maggot is paying for his attorney..then the attorney is being paid with drug money or money from stolen property…which would be illegal..right?! If the court is appointing an attorney then they we go paying for this scum to be set free on some trumped up technicality, so he can go out again and break the law. The poor officers that have to risk their lives dealing with this kind of trash don’t stand a chance. They know when they arrest him it’s just a matter of hours and he will be right back on the streets. And don’t ask the victim to press charges…if the maggot breaks the law…make him pay. It’s never gonna end until we say “enough is enough” and take back our streets. You can’t wish scum away, you have to clean it up! What use is someone like this to society…NONE! Quit playing with them, the next generation can clearly see there is no consequence for breaking the law….so do you think it will get better in time…hardly! Read our arrest column…it’s pathetic…the same names over and over again??!! It’s time to get real and get the trash off our streets!

  7. “e. Referrals
The CSO makes appropriate referrals for Domestic Violence parenting, anger management, community service, drug testing and treatment, alcohol treatment, employment/education (VOTEE), psychiatric/psychological evaluations and/or treatment and any other referrals deemed necessary. Most offenders assigned to a DV supervision team also are referred to the Domestic Violence Intervention Program (DVIP) for treatment.

  8. yada yada yada
When have you seen our government actually do what they say?
    Refer where? Sorry no money.
Send them to jail? Sorry no money.
Sure they have made policy on what should happen, but does it really work that way?
Our local Mental Health has been drastically cut over the last several years ago.

So what happens next? Congress puts together a 2,000 page new law that is supposed to fix all things health.
    yada yada yada

Next Congress plans on fixing planet earth
All they are really fixing is their supporters with the deepest pockets so they will be re-elected, and we all will be paying for it.

If our congressional elected officials are not careful, they will be fittin’ ta get a new job.

  9. I don’t know for sure without calling, but I believe AA and NARCANON is free, as far as some of the other things mentioned, what is wrong with the defendant paying for some of the requirements of the courts? If they lose their licenses to drive, people must pay for driving school to get license back.

I followed up on the article on the front page “About domestic violence offenders” even called and spoke with Larry Nichols. Followed up reviewing his website. Amazing, didn’t even know this was here and very affordable for anyone without insurance.

This may not happen here, but infact I know for a fact it happens else where ie the referals, classes, workshops etc require by court for various divisions of law.
