PUNKS

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 2:16 pm

Sweetjanice39897 writes

I do not see why the police even bother, they turn the “Punks” over to their parents, who-if they really cared the punks would not have been out there to start with. I bet one on one they would be nothing. Like all other Packs, they are bad when they run together.

Corporal Punishment in Schools

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 2:42 am

The Board of Education is reviewing the policy of corporal punishment in our schools. On Thursday evening, Hutto Middle School Principal Steven Dupree convincingly supported maintaining corporal punishment and, if he did not change their minds completely, he certainly put them on the fence.
What’s your opinion?

GSP furloughs

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 5:30 pm

math_teach writes

All of this talk of teachers being furloughed for three days and no mention of the Georgia State Patrol being furloughed a MINIMUM of 12 days.

These people are already underpaid for putting their life on the line to protect us and then we are going to reduce their time on the road protecting us and cut their pay by a significant amount.  Something is wrong with this picture!

Driving Dangers Around BHS

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 5:20 am

whatajoke writes

Students, Faculty, and Staff of Bainbridge High School, and everyone else who drives Highway 84 in the area of the school.

Please slow down and pay attention to what is going on. I really did not think anything positive or negative about the new high school being built out of town, but now that it is in session I have had other thoughts.

Length of School Day OMG

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 3:40 pm

silversmith4 writes

Have you ever noticed when a bureaucrat starts making up words, it’s going to be more and more difficult to find the truth?

A word was invented the other night, “instructional day,” and it came straight from a bureaucrat’s thesaurus.  I think the administration needs to spend some time in the classroom and then they might find out when an “instructional day” begins and when an ”instructional day” ends.

Any classroom teacher will tell you the day begins when a student walks through the door, end of story.

Billy’s Story

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 12:02 am

concernedone writes

Why did this need to go to the grand jury if the person admitted to the injuries?   Were members of the grand jury allowed to see the pictures?  Surely they didn’t think he caused those injuries to his back.  The fact that Center administration would allow a disabled person be kidnapped (yes not allowing a person to leave a room is kidnapping) and physically abused, and then sent home with no mention of injuries is unacceptable.  Time for a change in administration at Georgia Pines Decatur Seminole Service Center.

Pay cuts, academics, sports

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 10:53 pm

old enuf to no writes

I consider myself pretty knowledgeable but I sure wish someone could explain the area school systems and the governor’s basis for their financial decisions.

First of all, we have teachers being deducted 3 days pay for furlough.

Secondly, some area schools have cut out academic positions yet no decrease in the coaching staff.

What will it take for us to come together?

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 4:10 pm

ThePianoMan writes

I am in total shock and disappointed at how Ebony Clark’s story is ending up to be. I myself was the music director of the program and was hoping to see hundreds there. WHAT ARE WE THINKING PEOPLE? If this were your daughter then would you have attended? WOW these type of incidents affect out youth and entire community wether we decide to realize it or not. Larry, THANK YOU and your wife for your support. And for the rest of you who get on here making comments about “taking back our community, about these wanna be punks, or these hoodlum kids”

I have finally got CSX to fix the crossings at Dollar Bros. and on West St. Should be fixing them very soon. They should be very nice this time. Do not let the City take credit either. They would do nothing.

School Bus Dangers!

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 6:18 pm

Talkinghead writes

I have lost all faith that Decatur County School Board cares about the safety of our children. My boys, along with several other students, were forced to stand up on the bus because it was so overcrowed. Not only standing up, but in the front of the bus.

Faith Garrett, former ADN program director received little recognition for what she did for the nursing program, but in my opinion, as a recent graduate, I believe that she should have been acknowledged more, and not only that, awarded for the contributions that she has made to the program.

holy high school traffic jam batman!

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 11:32 pm

jester writes

It is apparent that nobody put a whole lot of thought into the traffic jam that would be caused by the new high school being placed on a major highway. On my way to town this morning the traffic was backed up from the high school all the way to Long Road! That is insane. I also saw a near wreck as two truck loads of teens were trying to dodge in and out of traffic to get to school on time. One of them ended up locking down the brakes and going into the median to keep from causing an accident. Just a thought but wouldn’t a traffic light would be nice.
