Confessions for the Holidays

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 2:26 pm

This was delivered by Ben Stein in December of 2005 on CBS Good Morning

Here at this happy time of year, a few confessions from my beating heart. I have no freaking clue who Nick and Jessica are I see them on the cover of People and Us constantly when I’m buying my dog biscuits. I still don’t know. I often ask the checkers at the grocery stores who they are. They don’t know who Nick and Jessica are, either. Who are they? Will it change my life if I know who they are and why they’ve broken up? Why are they so darned important?

Should we all get gun permits??

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 12:38 pm

jester writes

With the assault at the parade, the two shooting deaths of clerks in local convenience stores, the constant armed robberies, and the constant news of shootings and assaults all over town, it makes me wonder. How many of you have considered getting a permit from the probates office to carry a pistol? With all the violent crime, I have applied for mine simply to have a means of protecting myself. The bad guys have made it clear that they don’t mind shooting you for the change in your pocket.

Kids selling Xanax at School!!

Category: General Comments — infohungry @ 10:02 am

infohungry writes

this was in the incidents for december and i believe it should have been in the news section so parents that don’t look at the incident section can see what is going on at the schools and stay informed!! This girl could be dead right now the way she was supposedly popping them. Kids are really stupid these days they have no fear of dying like we did in the old days!!

Dec 3

At about 12 noon, Captain Robert Humphrey responded to the emergency room in reference to a patient with illegal narcotics. A mother reported to Captain Humphrey that her 14 year old daughter was transported from Bainbridge High School to the hospital because she appeared to have been under the influence of some type of drug. She gave the officer a zip-lock bag containing three xanax.

Gas Prices

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 2:04 am

scobo84 writes

I wanna know why crude oil prices are dropping but gas prices in Bainbridge are rising or standing still. Can anyone make sense out of the fact that the price of gas is cheaper in Tallahassee than it is in Bainbridge???

Cooper Tire = Job Loss

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 11:12 am

thb973 writes

What are our residents of Georgia going to survive without jobs to pay them? Our unemployment rate is already one of the highest in the nation near 8% and the average is 6%, yet Georgia or the City of Albany couldn’t come sacrafice their tax money or some other funds to give Cooper or other companies tax breaks to persuade them to stay here as the other cities that contain these type plants normally do. I think it was mostly where they could get the lowest overhead to keep the plant, Albany lost.

Holiday Spirit of Giving

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 2:24 pm

Bandit17 writes

I just came from BHS a little while ago where I dropped off a toy for the Toys for Tots drive. I was dissapointed to find the donation box empty and to find that donations were down substantially this year. I also found a similar need at the Humane Society animal shelter when I dropped a few items off there this morning.

Folks, I know times are tough for most of us right now but the good feeling you will get when you help others is worth a lot more than the cost of a few items donated to these good causes. I encourage everyone to dig deep and try to help out during the Christmas season.
Bless you all, and Merry Christmas.

No Nativity Scene this year?

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 2:23 pm

Nina Anne writes

I find it… insulting that we can’t have a Christian holiday that has a nativity scene without an uproar.  If there was one placed on the square, would it cause another uproar like it has in the past?  I drove by the square and didn’t see one in the usual spot so what gives?

Law Enforcement vs Citizens

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 4:19 pm

jester writes

After reading the garbage that was posted in regards to the sign in Climax and the great cop conspiracy, I felt compelled to share a single thought. What would all of us do without the cops? Our society would collapse into a scattering of gangs that would constantly battle for superiority. Nothing you have would be safe….

County Animal Control Vehicle

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 4:44 am

Tone writes

Why doesn’t the county have an animal control truck like the city? I mean did the city waste money by buying such a vehicle, or is it the humane way of transporting the animals that the city has? The county’s vehicle is a truck with cages in the back.I just want someone to tell me, so i can understand. Thanks for your comments.

Recycle Bainbridge

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 4:41 am

joy writes

Way to go Bainbridge and welcome to the 21st century. I am happy to see a recycling facility (trailer) in the Wal-Mart parking lot. It is so easy to drop off my plastics, newspapers, cans, etc. while I go in to do some shopping. There is no reason each household can’t recycle because it is so easy. Go Green where you can!

Crashes, In Spite of Warning

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 11:31 pm

MadMom13 writes

I’m sorry those crashes happened, but please do not insult our intelligence and imply that the sign was in any way, shape, or form the cause. Those sound like idiots who do not know how to drive. Yes, they crashed in spite of the warning, but was speed the cause? I don’t think so. When someone runs off the road because they are looking at the sign, then it’s newsworthy. This crap is not.

Chief says “Say Thanks”

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 12:51 am

“So” Chief Funderburke says “From now on, if an officer refuses to give you a break to help you out, call Kerry Dean and thank him.”

Bainbridge doctors don’t accept new patients?

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 1:07 pm

Talkinghead writes

I have been trying to get a doctors appointment for over a week now, and apparently no one accepts new patients. As a relatively young and healthy person I don’t need to go to the doctors very often, but now after a severe case of strep throat that has gone untreated for two weeks, I desperately need to see one.
