Humane Society: Please help

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 6:23 pm

Aubie2000 writes

As most of you know, the shelter (Humane Society) needs our help if they are to remain open. I have been enlighted to a couple of points that I did not know and am quite sure the community does not know and I wanted to share my information with all of you.

The Humane Society and the City have a contract based upon a specific number of animals, with provisions for additional payment for additional animals. On the surface this all sounds great, BUT the city only counts those animals brought in by the city animal control officer.

Kudos to DEFAC’s Employees

I am so impressed at the fact that someone has stepped up (article here) to stop the rising number of juvenile crimes. Personally I believe the lack of people stepping has been the true reason for the rise. This country has become so stuck in their own world. Political correctness is killing our country, that and the fact that if you do dare to step in our legal system will find you guilty of harassment or assault. If more people would step in when they see someone doing something that they should not, be it shoplifting or cruelty to others.

A Summer To Write About!

I was reading in the Community News section about the kids from the Friendship House that went to Santa Rosa Beach.  I think that is a wonderful idea to get the kids on a trip like this and to be rewarded like this.  I hope that more trips like this are planned and I believe that it makes for some positive changes in Bainbridge.  Thank you Action GM for helping these kids out.

Dog Attack, Again

Certainly this vicious dog attack on another child should motivate Decatur County Commissioners to action in implementing an ordinance to clean up the feral animals in the county. Hopefully this won’t happen again.

I just wanted to say thanks to the new owner for Raceway gas station in town for keeping the others here in Bainbridge honest. Without them I don’t know where we would be. I hope everyone has seen the gas prices are kept current on the Bainbridgega home page.

Historical Idea!

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 11:03 pm

hwhite writes

As my husband and I were painting our house we were discussing how some folks we know purposely don’t make their homes look nice because of the fear of their property being re-valued and being taxed more on property taxes.

It may be a good idea to actually offer incentives for our historical areas of Bainbridge for their residents to paint their houses and make repairs and after proof of this, give them a tax break on their property taxes, the amount depending on the repairs.

County “Conflict”

article here

The video of the County Commissioner conflict was interesting to say the least. Am I mistaken or did the County Administrator wait until the final meeting to submit a budget that department heads did not have a chance to review?

New ballfield…what?

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 12:51 am

cousinbubba writes

I don’t know. If I was paying a high dollar architect to design and help with construction of new ballfields, I figure before we got too far into the project I would have had someone do a geological/hydrological survey BEFORE I went and spent a lot of time and money clearing off 40 acres or so of land to find out it doesn’t drain right.

Tens of thousands for July 4th

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 5:22 am

WantToHelp writes

Well if tens of thousands are expected again this July 4th down at the boat basin, I do hope they have more porta-potties this year than last. I think they had less than 10 for over ten thousand people last year. Hopefully someone in charge will read this.

And if I could make a suggestion that they be designated for the different sexes. One group for the women and one group for the men. Nothing like going in behind a drunk with a child.

Thank You
