Bearcats Win, Again!

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 3:47 am

mike writes

What a great game on Friday night, with the Cats beating the previously unbeaten Enterprise Wildcats! Our teamed played with great poise and unity. The defensive unit is coming together and developing into a force to be reckoned with. No better way to start division play than with a great victory against a formidable opponent. Way to go Cats!

Congratulation Bearcats

radioman writes

The comeback victory last Friday night with a two point conversion was accomplished by a team effort. The focus of the team when adversity strikes is still on the game. This win will build up a team. Congratulations from your South Panola connection in Batesville….

Decatur County Mentoring Program

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 4:30 am

N. Kelly writes

I would like to say I think this program is a wonderful thing. People in our community taking at least 1 hour out of thier week to spend it with a young child or youth in our school system. What people need to understand is that these children ARE our future so we need to help out anyway we are able to. Come on Decatur County folks lets start helping our future by helping our children NOW.

Thank you, Mrs. Bryant, Mrs. Hawthorne and all the other people who are helping.

Our City is Ridiculous!

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 2:26 am

spyda69 writes

I am a disabled taxpaying citizen of bainbridge georgia AND a stay at home father and I just want to make a comment on how un-accessible and un-willing to help the handicapped our city is.

My main concern is the fact that our garbage people want to charge a whole month worth of garbage pick up to come back to a street when they’re right down the road some 150yards just to pick up my trash can because my step-daughter forgot to push it all the way out to the road.

What do our County Commissioners do?

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 1:39 am

Bandit17 writes

I find it of concern that we have County Commissioners who get paid to do a job that they were elected to do who do not think it necessary to come to the meetings on time or at all for that matter. The last meeting for example (9/11/07), only 4 of the 6 were present. This was a regularly scheduled meeting, not a special called meeting. In my opinion if an individual has a schedule that will not allow them to attend the meetings, they should not have run. If their schedule has changed since their election, then they should resign.

Enough is Enough

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 4:47 am

denise writes

This piece of news really gets my goat. Let me start by saying I am the mother of a teenager. I do not understand all the complaints about the youth parking in the mall parking lot and socializing. No my child was not there or one of the ones arrested!

I have not seen the first report of a mugging, persons being beaten, drunken parties, stealing or vandalism being done in our mall parking lot.

Nothing For The Kids To Do

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 4:38 am

infohungry writes

I am happy the police officer finally got tired of warning these kids to leave. He is needed elsewhere other than being a parent to these kids who seem to have no direction. He is not paid to be their guardian and if the Parents of the kids that were either arrested or issued a citation don’t like it then it is their own fault for not teaching their kids that loitering is illegal!!

Budget Decision

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 4:30 am

silverfox writes

I have no problem with salary increases for those on the lower end of the pay scale. Personally, I wish it was possible to skim off the top of the heap and give them even more. In the meantime, I’d like to see our city “leaders” show the citizens of Bainbridge (taxpayers) that they are worth the additional pay. We know the saying, “to whom much is given much is expected.”

It might also help if city council members would pay more attention to city workers. Why not check in with these folks from time to time to get their perspective on how things are going? If people are doing their jobs this type of oversight shouldn’t be cause for alarm.

I need help to find a thief!

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 2:59 am

Kymber2 writes

I am trying to get the word out in the hopes that I may get my jewelry back. I had several rings and necklaces go missing from my home within the last week or so. I don’t wear the jewelry much since some of it is family heirlooms and such. I didn’t even notice them missing until today when I went to get a watch out of my jewelry box.

City salary increases

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 12:21 am

silverfox writes

Where are our priorities? Our city leaders can somehow justify huge salary increases for themselves, throw in some pittance raises for those on the lower end of the scale in order to ease some guilt, and what happens to those who fall in between?

My perception is that there may not be enough accountability and oversight of those who are running our local government. I think of “Lord of the Flies.”

Can The Public See This Salary Survey?

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 10:01 am

laddy writes

Doing the math by what has been provided, the average must start at the lower end because at the top it is well over 12% for most of the salaries listed here.

What warrants this pay increase for these listed?

Coach Woods and the Bearcats

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 2:19 am

biff_tannen writes

The Bearcats are now 1-2 after a heartbreaking loss to the Syrupmakers last night in Cairo. I must say though that the refs gave the game to Cairo on a horrible roughing the passer call. After the game Cairo’s fans were celebrating & mocking the Bearcats, in which they were excited about the win. But they had better enjoy that win against us because that will be the last one they get because Coach Woods is building something strong here in Bainbridge, something that eventually will be a force.

Is all Common Sense Gone?

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 11:12 pm

Country Lady writes

Let me preface my post by saying that I am not originally from Bainbridge - I will come back to the importance of this statement at the end of my post.

On Tuesday evening, a young boy (probably between 10-12 years old) was riding his bike, along with a group of his friends, and was struck by a car as he was riding across MLK and Simms. The boy was unresponsive for a couple of minutes, and then began coming around and was very disoriented. When the mother got there, she hit one of the other boys that was with her son and said, “This is all YOUR fault!” And proceeded to yell at the boy (he was around 13 years old). (By the way - the man that hit the boy did stop his vehicle and stayed until the police arrived).
