My brother- Man

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 3:43 pm

Sunshine McCullough writes

This is a letter from my mother. I am trying to do anything I can to help her. So please help me help her! Thanks

My son Clifford ‘Man’ Reynolds died in a car wreck on April 27th, 2007 on Lake Douglas Road. In his memory, a friend put out flowers in the ditch where his truck was. Well about two weeks later, they went missing. No one knows who took them or why.
About a week later, some more white flowers were put there at 5:00 one afternoon and at 7:30 the next morning they were gone again. Why? Who? (Man and someone out there knows who is doing this)

This past Sunday morning, more white flowers were put in the same spot and again at 7:30 on Wednesday they were gone AGAIN. Why would someone show so much disrespect to my son and our family, only God knows? And believe me, he knows and is watching you!

As a mother who is trying to get through a very hard time, I ask if anyone knows who is taking my son’s flowers to please let me know.

There is no reason for this to be happening over and over. Besides, what harm are those flowers doing to anyone when they bring a little comfort to some of his loved ones?
Delila Reynolds

BHS Graduation Manners

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 5:12 pm

SthrnGent writes

Last night, my son graduated from Bainbridge High School. The program, speeches, and music were all well done, well timed, and inspiring. I was proud of the students and my son.

I was not proud, however, of the audience in the bleachers. I know that two seperate times during the evening, staff and administrators made clear requests that cell phones were to be turned off or put on “silent” mode; that there be no clapping or yelling out of names for individuals until an entire row of graduates was through, and that everybody remain seated throughout the ceremony.

Tourism Director

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 3:56 am

Nina Anne writes

I do believe that the city needs a Tourism Director. This will bring in more festivals and two day events which will bring in more money to support Bainbridge. I love the idea and the position should be born and filled as soon as possible. The sooner the better.

Take Back Our Streets

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 11:05 am

tinkerbee48 writes

There are some places here in Bainbridge that are not safe. It is time to take them back. The taxpayers have a right to expect every street in their town to be safe to drive down or walk down and that is no longer true in Bainbridge.

Broughton Street is a mess and there is another street that is disintergrating as well over next to Potter Street School. The streets are our streets not the thugs and criminals who prowl them. I say let’s take them back.

What were they thinking?

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 4:12 pm

tinkerbee48 writes

I was saddened to read about the young adults involved in the prescription drug ring. These are people that I know and I cannot understand why they would ruin their lives in such a manner. It is horrible and they may not even know how bad it will get.

Animal Control

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 5:20 pm

working_mom writes

Has anyone noticed the poor, mangy dogs that roam around 84 and there on Whigham Dairy road? I have seen them around the bridge in front of the car lot. These dogs sometimes wander into the local businesses parking lots and get food that people throw out. I just wonder why hasn’t the animal control done something about these poor dogs?

I was wondering if anyone had information about Michael Henry’s trial. We got lots of news when he was arrested, but I can’t seem to find any news about his being found not quilty of all charges today.

Juvie Point System

Category: General Comments — hwhite @ 9:25 am

In regards to today’s story on juveniles and the point system. Concealed weapons and robbery are low risk points? Even if they are accumulative and it is their first time…concealed weapons and robbery are low risk? Certainly outsiders deciding this, not the victims, the victim’s families, or even the offender’s families. In these days and times, bullying even needs to be taken very seriously.

What is going on with our Magistrate?

I just read the Incidents for May and read the one Deputy Singleton handled!
Why in the world, if the subject admitted to it, did the Deputy not get granted by our magistrate, the warrants for this.

Why No Talk About Gas Prices?

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 7:01 pm

mike writes

It’s worth pointing out that gas prices in Bainbridge are cheaper than Albany, Donalsonville, Cairo, Thomasville, and at the state line, and anywhere in Florida. The national average price of unleaded gasoline is $3.07.

Gambling Machines Seized, Arrests

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 4:52 pm

infohungry writes

I will be very interested to see if the judges in this case follow the law that states

If Convicted, A Person Shall Serve Not Less Than One Year And Not More Than Five Years Or Fined Up To 20,000.00 Dollars Or Both.

The three that were arrested are part of that situation where they don’t have to pay salestax for so many years, they sure were making a killing with that and the gambling machines. I know they aren’t the only ones

So What Do We Need To Do?

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 4:53 pm

In another thread, redd writes

The local events in this town are not events that benefit all the citizens of Bainbridge, they are not even appealing to a lot of the people living here.

By the way if it is bringing in that kind of money please use it to help the children in this town, build sometime they can all use and get them off the street.

Feedom in America/A little more compassion

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 12:43 pm

working_mom Writes

I know we have so many freedoms here in our county. I wonder if we, as adults, don’t go a little overboard. I myself feel like I have been chastised by a 16 year old. C.H. (previous post) made me think about the liberties that we just take. I think we need to look at the fine line when we say and do things a little more. I am going to try to do that. We are human and we have feeling. We have the RIGHT to say what we want..
