“How is my driving?” bumper stickers for cars

Category: General Comments — working_mom @ 7:11 am

I wish all parents would put on on the kids cars.

There’s a new wrinkle to safe driving. A company is producing bumper stickers that most often are the kinds seen on large trucks so that the public can report driving habits. In this case, parents can put these stickers on cars that their teens drive and the general public can observe driving habits and report them, via a database, back to the parents. It’s called ‘Tell My Parents’.

Baseball Conditions

Category: General Comments — ckelly @ 12:23 pm

This week is when our kids started baseball practice. When we went to the fields on Monday night for our first practice, the playing fields looked worse than they ever looked last year. It seems as if there has been no care taken. Registration has been going on since the middle of January…Why have they not worked on the fields to get ready for practice??? The outfields have holes, divits, and some craters in them, and this was just one field. Why can’t we have decent playing fields?? Other sports in the community have wonderful facilities….but our baseball kids, do not even have drink machines working yet. Can anyone tell me why???

Exactly WHERE does our local peanut harvest go to?

Category: General Comments — Adjudicator @ 10:35 am

I would really like to know. I never see any of our area’s home-grown products available ANYWHERE locally. WHY??? Also, are our local peanut producers going to be affected by the Peter Pan fiasco in Sylvester? Answers needed, please.

No Free Rides!

Category: General Comments — Shepard @ 10:49 am

I was in a local store and overheard a conversation between a law enforcement officer and a customer. The customer basically said that she received a call from someone telling her she had won a contest and to collect all she had to do was provide the account number for her checking account. The caller already knew her name and the routing number to her bank. She said that as the conversation continued and she refused to give her information, the caller began to give her “doubletalk” and then hung up. Good for her! Everyday we see identity theft and fraud cases on the news. It’s like handing a crook a gun to help him as he robs you! Everyone needs to be aware that if it sounds to good to be true………

To Be or Not To Be? Will we ever have a seventh county commissioner?

Category: General Comments — Bandit17 @ 10:47 am

Some questions I would like to see all our current county commissioners answer on an individual basis.
1. Are you in favor of or against having a seventh commissioner as has been discussed off and on for years?
2. If so why do you favor this change, and if not why are you against it and how would you suggest we resolve the current dilemma of having one of the current six districts without a vote?
3. If we cannot agree on having a seventh commissioner, would you be in favor of a return to the old system wherein each and every commissioner had a vote including the chair?

Hopefully the concerned citizens, especially those currently being virtually unrepresented will speak out on this issue and we will continue to bring it up at the meetings and on the street untill we can resolve this issue.
