Cruelty Toward Child

Category: General Comments — raajga @ 12:41 pm

Tuesday, 17 year old Antonio Brown admits to beating a 6 month old child. He was arrested on Tuesday and was sitting in class at BHS on Thursday.

What is wrong with this picture. What message are we sending these kids. Things have gotten out of control. I don’t want my child sitting next to someone who can do this.

Toys for Tots

Category: General Comments — working_mom @ 6:56 pm

Have you noticed that there’s more donation boxes up for the Toys For Tots and such organizations?

I would like to say Thank You to the ones that have donated toys.

I know there was a local business that was asked if a box could be placed in his business. From what I understand, He said didn’t want that type of people on his store. I know we can’t say names here, but it’s (edited-LS).

So thank you to the business that said yes when I asked. I hope you have a very happy holiday.

To scrooge, I hope you will one day have a softer heart. However,
I do know that you will never see a dime of my money.

Another City Council Opportunity

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 6:42 pm

Submitted by the Nuttings

We wish to thank all who commented on “BainbridgeGA.Com” both for and against the Nativity scene in Willis Park.

We are going to try to get on the agenda for the Dec.5th city council meeting.

More information has come our way and we will ask again for a Nativity scene in the park placed by the city or by us.
We will ask for a yes or no answer not just table it.

Thankful

Category: General Comments — hwhite @ 3:10 pm

Here are some of the things I am so thankful for in regards to Bainbridge:

I am thankful for the super people who are selfless and give to others associated with Hospice, Arts Council, Friendship House, Humane Society, Meals on Wheels, and all of the many organizations who contribute so greatly. So many of these people contribute to more then one of these organizations. How about for a new years resolution if you are not already, commit a few hours a month to one of the worth while causes in town.

I am thankful for my wonderful neighbors that always have a smile and take the time to speak.

I am greatful for the beautiful river, large old oaks draped in moss.

I am thankful for the amazing architecture and charming historical areas.

I am thankful for the chamber of commerce and the downtown business association for the care they take in making Bainbridge charming.

I am thankful for everyone on Bainbridgega.com talk who care enough to have good, intelligent conversation about issues and actually listen to everyone’s point of view.

Bainbridge & ETOH sales

Category: General Comments — Adjudicator @ 2:40 pm

Agreed that employees at our local “7-11″ type stores are not the “sharpest tacks in the box”, I have a question to ask that I think reflects the general lack of knowledge in this area. Yesterday, while in between cooking one thing or another, I went to a local store to buy beer. I was quickly told that ETOH sales were not allowed on “Thanksgiving”, “Christmas”, or even “voting” days, etc. OK. Having dealt with this before in the past, I went to the next nearest store where my purchases were welcomed. What is up with all of this mis-information here? I have successfully purchased EHOH in Bainbridge on all days mentioned before and even on some Sundays in the past. What are the laws regarding such? Does Bainbridge have “different” laws than the state of Georgia as a whole? If SO, how can a “local” law/ordinance over-ride a “state” law??? Just curious. Comments???

New Business

Category: General Comments — booknook @ 2:00 am

There are several things we can do to get more business. We seem to have a good mix of local businesses that provide good customer service, the key to any successful operation. We seem to have an overabundance of a few categories such as pharmacies and auto parts stores to name a few.

Another key to have local successful businesses is solid customer support. We also have lots of corporate businesses which can successfully undercut local merchants in pricing of goods. Those of us in local business wish to remind those who spend their money out of town, or at the big boxes, that the local businesses for years have supported all kinds of local charities and fund raising drives, advertising in special publications, and other community endeavors. Local businesses rarely or if ever say “no” to a request for help.

To those of you who are customers, please tell us how we can better serve, and retain loyal customers who will support us.

Dateline

Category: General Comments — working_mom @ 9:44 pm

Did anyone besides me watch the Dateline that was on November 4th?

Was this the second person from Bainbridge involved in a sting for molesters?

I can’t believe how many people are out there willing to take advantage of our youth.

Final Post for Red 6

Category: General Comments — Red6 @ 9:40 pm

Well Decatur County, you’ve spoken. Quite loudly I might add.

Lets examine what you said…

We want more croynism, secret meetings, hidden agendas, elitism, and general corrupt government. We want our government run by special interest groups, and to hell with the regular citizens. We want a government that is controlled by the monied few, and not by the general populace.

What the …

As for me, I quit, I tried to show you the problems, tried to get you to stand up and demand accountability, and fair equal and honest government, but obviously, you want none of it.

So I bid you adieu, and welcome to the mess you’ve chosen.

Youth Rally

Category: General Comments — Iron Man @ 10:18 am

I don’t know how many people here had the opportunity to go to the youth rally last night, but I did see a few parents there. Attendence by our area youth was impressive. (Larry has more info on the speaker here). Mr. Mahan had a great message and really seemed to resonate with the kids. I hope the parents learned something too. If I was dismayed with anything it is that what Mr. Mahan orated, I learned in school. For a subject that is so important, what has changed that we don’t teach this information anymore?

I tip my hat to Family Connection, Ralph Jones, Tommie Howell and everyone else who were behind this youth rally. Hopefully there will be more in the future.

Pedestrians

Category: General Comments — tinkerbee48 @ 12:44 pm

The amount of people adults and children walking in the streets is getting to be a problem. Pedestrians should have the right away up to a point. It is dangerous for the driver and walker when a group of people is sauntering down the road. Isn’t it illegal to just walk in the road? I really believe it is reaching a really dangerous level, it surprises me that more people are not hit and killed. Halloween was horrible with people just walking in the street but it is the day to day problem that I see getting out of hand.

Politics and Voting

Category: General Comments — Posted by is below @ 2:29 pm

An earlier post encouraged everyone to vote. Please do vote!

But, before you vote, check out what the candidates and the amendments are saying. Don’t vote for your neighbor or the guy you go to church with or someone who looks great or dresses nice or your kids are friends with their kids. Don’t even vote for them because they have a degree or because they use big words. Don’t vote for what they “say” in those ads. Vote for the issues and the character of the person who will represent you. That will take a little effort on your part.
