Our New Administrator…

Category: General Comments — Red6 @ 9:30 pm

Well now, we have a new County Administrator, let us hope that he will not uphold the tradition set in this county by his predecessors and the majority of the current body politic.

Perhaps he will live up to the name “PATTON” and use some of the “blood and guts” style leadership that this government needs so badly. If so, then we can expect to see the shenaganins of the Bramblett clique end.

Hope springs eternal…

Parents get your head out of the sand

Category: General Comments — tgw1972 @ 3:45 am

I would like to comment on this article. It has not been that long since I was a teen in Bainbridge. The problems are the same now as they were then. What are teens suppose to do here? I understand that the buisnesses in the mall do not want our children hanging out in the mall parking lots and that the police have to enforce this. That is not a choice for our young people. You give statistics on alchol and drug use not to forget how sexually active our kids are becoming at such a young age. This is by no means a defense for the young people of this county, but an eye opener for anyone interested.

Our children have a few choices in this town. One is to hang out with their friends at public parking lots, which is not allowed. Two, they can go to parties, which we know there is drugs, drinking, and more than likely unprotected sex going on. Third, they can go to places like Tallahassee, which can lead to attending BIGGER parties with college kids and be doing the same things there as they do at parties here with the exception….they have to get behind the wheel and drive back home.

We need to step back as parents and community leaders and realize that we need to get more activities in Decatur County. We are growing each and every day and we need to look into something like Putt-Putt or something like that. As adults what do we do when we want to have a good time? We leave Bainbridge for Tallahassee, Dothan, or Albany. Why are we allowing this money to go to other cities and states?

We need to step up and find a way to keep money here in our communities and give our young people something fun to do. We have to look at the fact that not all young people come from equal financial backgrounds. We need to finally decide what we could do to give our young people other choices besides going out drinking, doing drugs or even having sex. No…I know that it would not solve the problem, but it definately could not hurt to give them another choice.

Obituaries

Category: General Comments — Scarecrow @ 2:48 pm

Recently a man passed away that my family knew in passing, we called him “Mr. Man”:) He would always sit on his front porch, beside his big orange cone, with his door open, reading his newspaper and “keep watch” over the apartment complex. He had this presence about him that if anything ever happened, he would be the one to take care of it. I always felt safe with him watching over everything, even though i knew that he really couldn’t do anything to protect us except call for help.

Lately I had been noticing that he wasn’t sitting on his porch as much. I thought maybe he was on vacation or maybe he just moved away. But I found out today that he died, I don’t know when (I think it was probably about a month or so ago) and I don’t know what happened.

I know this is alot to ask, not knowing his name or anything, but if anyone knows who I am talking about or has any information on this man please let me know, I would love to extend condolences to his family, if he had any. Thanks :(

Hats off to Sheriff and Police Deptments

Category: General Comments — been there done that @ 12:34 am

I just want to say thank you to the men and women of our sheriff’s department and city police department for all the hard work that they do when it comes to fighting the war on drugs. I see that 19 people were indicted on drug charges.

Decatur County has a real bad drug problem and at times it seems like it is getting worse. As a mother of a small child I ask that people help report any drug activity they see going on. Let’s send a message to these people that we want our community to be a drug free area and a safe place for our families.

Again a great big thank you to the men and women of our sheriff’s department and city police department for putting their lives on the lines everyday to make Bainbridge and Decatur County a safe place to live.

Dec. County Correctional Facility

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 3:03 pm

(I have changed this to an anonymous post-LS)

Can you believe that if an inmate does certain ‘favors’ for different one’s in authority at the county prison, that they can actually ‘get out of jail’ earlier?

Do you believe that if you are an inmate at DCCI that items your family sends to you in the mail may be stolen before they reach you? (Even though you have completed all the proper steps to receive items)

Animal Cruelty

Category: General Comments — sabrinabaxley @ 10:47 pm

What in the world could someone have been thinking to send those two poor dogs back to such a horrible horrible living condition? If I was those dogs I believe if given a choice of the two I would have rather been euthanized!!!!!!!!

I need some advice….

Category: General Comments — Scarecrow @ 11:43 am

I need some advice on a situation that has come up. I sold a piece of merchandise to a business but received no money from them because we were not sure how to bill them. After deciding what to do and letting them know, I waited to receive the payment. I waited and waited and waited and still no payment. After calling and discussing this with them, I was told to send them a receipt of sale saying how much the item was. I was a little suspicious then becuase they had not payed us any money and now I was having to send them a receipt. I did this and made sure written on the receipt was “no money received”.

I gave them a week to send the payment, but still nothing. So I called them up once more and was told this time, that they had NO money and wasn’t sure when they would. They would pay us when they could.

Now, this is a legitimate business in the community! I know that I have probably been “had”, and if this merchandise was only a few dollars, I would let it go, but we are not talking about just a few dollars!

But I was wondering if any of you had any advice as to what legal actions I could take to get my money.

Juvenile caught selling sex?

Category: General Comments — infohungry @ 7:21 am

August 7

While on patrol at approximately 11:00 pm, Bainbridge Public Safety Officer Hall spotted a man come from the side of the Salvation Army building. Officer Hall was speaking with the man when he saw a female come from the side of the building and she started running. Officer Hall called Officer Cox to the area Officer Cox found the female and put her in investigative custody in his patrol car. Officer Hall also placed the male in investigative custody. Decatur County Sheriff’s Deputy Bennett was also on scene and he and Officer Hall found 2 men hidding under mattresses behind the building. The 2 men were placed under arrest for loitering. Now for the reason they were all there: according the first man they spoke with, his girlfriend (who is a juvenile) was going to have sex with the other 2 men for money. When the officers spoke with the girl, she told them that she was given $115.00 to have sex with the men but didn’t because the police arrived. The 2 men stated that they were going to have sex with the girl but didn’t give her any money. The juvenile female was taken home to her mother and the male was released. The 2 men bonded out on the loitering charge.

I guess I am under the misconception that all four people were breaking the law here. Why in the world would the officers not arrest the two people that admitted to breaking the law???? Larry could you or somebody ,with more sense than myself, help me to understand this blatent breaking of prostitution laws???? and for the deputies looking the other way I don’t care if the girl was a juvenile (an even better reason for arresting her and scaring the crap out of her) Now she will just keep doing it thinking it was okay to sell her body since the cops let her go?????

As the Gas Flows

Category: General Comments — Jerry @ 10:36 pm

Well once again i see gas coming down just a lil.
My question is still….
How do you explain driving 4 miles out of town and saving 11 cents per gallon on the same gas?
I asked the owners.
I was told it was simple.
They dug just a lil deeper into their pocket books and sold it for less..
They also told me that they make MORE off of a candy bar than they do a gallon of gas..
I had to laugh,, when they said that most people who buy gas will also buy a candy bar..lol..

Hey Folks ..the ones who own a station..how about using the same principal..Who Knows WE may buy a candy bar while we fill up.????

There is a diffrence in Greed and Profit…
Gone to eat my candy bar………

what’s the latest news on….

Category: General Comments — Nina Anne @ 3:03 pm

What is the latest news on the Bainbridge Marina? There are a ton of people who are asking me when I am at the boat basin. So what is the latest information regarding this?

What is the latest info on the trash dump?

Am I starting another war asking these questions? Probably. But that is ok. Maybe it will be a war for me instead of against me this time. Either way, I am ready to open my can if need be….

I was supposed to be leaving and some of the things that I had planned were canceled so I am still here. I am trying to make the best of it, and maybe learn something in the meantime (go figure… I can actually learn something!!!)

Interesting AJC Question

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 11:48 am

The AJC posed this interesting question this morning.

Did you vote against the incumbents in your county?
Do you think the current officeholders on your county commission and school board are doing a good job?
An AJC reporter wants to talk to you.

I assume they are doing a statewide article based on interviews they have.

On The Lighter Side

Category: General Comments — Adjudicator @ 8:59 am

A True Story ;)

Go Gramps!!!

A Georgia senior citizen drove his brand new Corvette convertible out of the dealership. Taking off down the road, he floored it to 80 mph, enjoying the wind blowing through what little hair he had left.

“Amazing!” he thought as he flew down I-75, pushing the pedal to the metal even more.

Looking in his rear view mirror, he saw the highway patrol behind him, blue lights flashing and siren blaring.

“I can get away from him - no problem!” thought the elderly gentleman as he floored it to 100 MPH, then 110, then 120… Suddenly, he thought,
“What on earth am I doing? I’m too old for this nonsense!” He pulled over to the side of the road and waited for the trooper to catch up with him.

Pulling in behind him, the trooper walked up to the driver’s side of the Corvette, looked at his watch and said, “Sir, my shift ends in 30 minutes. Today is Friday. If you can give me a reason why you were
speeding that I’ve never heard before, I’ll let you go.”

The man, looking very seriously at the trooper, said, “Years ago, my wife ran off with a Georgia State Trooper. I thought you were bringing her back.”

“Have a good day, Sir,” said the trooper.

Flooding?

Category: General Comments — Insider @ 8:21 am

Does anyone know anymore about the flooding on Brinson-Airbase Rd.
Its sad that there is nothing being done for the problem. I can understand that it happened after improvements were made but if this caused the flooding then they should be putting this on top priority to fix.
