Congrats Dec. Co. on new Industry

Category: General Comments — rgironman @ 4:10 pm

With so much negativity going on in our community, it sure is encouraging to see this new 300 job industry coming. This is a “shot in the arm” that is long overdue.
Please thank our Development Authority members when you see them, as well as our County leaders. It’s been quite a long while since we have had this opportunity.
Stay positive, and let’s all continue to show the world how great our community really is.

Gas Prices

Category: General Comments — different @ 3:24 pm

Let’s talk about something that all of us probably(?) agree on. Gas Prices in Florida were .14 less than the prices in Bainbridge. It doesn’t look like
they are going to go down here anytime soon except out there at Mr. Pip’s where it is $2.59/gallon–last I heard of. Are you guys buying in town and if so, where?

County Admin Hiring

Category: General Comments — Heidi @ 12:19 pm

Does the county commissioners entertain the position that they must hire someone that is or has previously been a “County Manager?”

Our neighboring town, Cairo, hired a CEO from a business there as the “City Manager” or “County Manager” for an annual salary of $95,000. He was such a dynamic person in the community that they didn’t want him to “get away.”

There is nothing wrong with hiring a local person or a person that excels in another field that can become an excellent County Manager.

I thank God for this day!
I thank Him for each and every one of you.
I thank Him for the air that I breath, for waking up every day, for my son, my wife, my entire family.
I thank Him for my job, my cars, my house, my pets, everything that I own.
I thank Him for the many things that He has blessed me with and the many blessing to come.

County Circus

Category: General Comments — Red6 @ 10:17 am

Last night at the commisioners meeting several points were brought up by citizens of the county.

Mr. Brambletts resignation was again broached by the citizens and finally an answer given, Thanks to Earl Perry.
It seems that Bumbling Jim was offered $47000 of our tax money in exchange for his resignation. Excuse me, but why are we paying him to resign due to his incompentence? Do we offer the same deal to any county employee who is inept? Or is it just for the upper echelon that we pay for incompetence?
One of our exalted commisioners stated “I wouldn’t want to work for us”, well I sure as hell would. Screw up and get paid to leave, an amount that is more than most of the county makes? Who wouldn’t want that?
Do we offer this same “golden parachute” to the rank and file? Obviously not.
And then several of our commisioners stated that they feel that they are perfectly qualified to select the next Administrator?
Excuse me? Did they not select the last two?
And did they not have to ask for the resignation of the current administrator?
The point was made by Mr Perry that he felt it best to have professional help in aquiring new resumes for the position.
This is when the circus began in earnest. Several citizens spoke up to express the desire of the populace in the matter and finally, our commisioners decided , most likely for the first time, to follow the desires of the citizens and utilize the agency promoted by Mr Perry.
Lets be realistic, spending $7500 to hire the firm pales in comparison to the $175000 spent due to the lawsuit we lost, and in light of the pending lawsuits. Which are a direct result of the imcompetence of our current administrator and his underlings.
People, start attending these meetings, it will open your eyes and perhaps make you start paying attention to who is running, or ruining our county.

Nuff Said

Nothings News…

Category: General Comments — Red6 @ 9:13 pm

What are your thoughts on, say the silence about “Bumbling Jim Bramblett’s resignation”? or the reasons for his resignation.

What about the gentleman who brought up the issue with Billy Griffin and the new job made for him.

Inquiring minds want to know.

Visit a Care Home and Show you Care

Category: General Comments — revdaneeidson @ 8:46 pm

One of the greatest blessings I receive is from sitting down and talking to an elderly resident in a Care Home such as Memorial Manor. I know that is a duty to do so as one of the Chaplains of Memorial Hospital and Manor but for me I look at it as an honor.
I think that some would be suprised at the wealth of wisdom and common sense an ederly resident has. Plus to see a light brightened up in their eyes when they have a vistor come just to spend a little time with them and give these noble citizens an attentative ear.
I was in a resturant here in Bainbridge eating dinner. An edlerly gentleman was sitting next to me. He told me he was 90 years old. We struck up a converstion and I jokingly and respectfully asked him what he was going to do on his 100th birthday. He said, “Young man I know when i am going to die.” I ask him, “Sir, how will you die?” He said, “Son, i will die at a 104 years old at the hands of a jealous man.” Now I did really laugh out loud and hard at that statement.

The DaVinci Code

Category: General Comments — Adjudicator @ 8:34 pm

http://www.sonypictures.com/movies/thedavincicode/

I WILL be going to see this movie. This is, of course, a work of fiction? ( ;) ) Will you be going to the movies soon? Will this movie NOT be shown in our area (like another recent movie??) I am reading the book now. It is a good, no, GREAT story. Will there be objection to this (fictional) movie being shown in Bainbridge? Who controls who locally? Stay tuned. We shall soon see. What will evolve from here? L. Ron Hubbard once wrote a fictional novel about something, and, well; most all know how THAT turned out… ;)

Something We Can All Agree Upon

Category: General Comments — Adjudicator @ 7:43 pm

If you woke up this morning
with more health than illness,
you are more blessed than the
million who won’t survive the week.

If you have never experienced
the danger of battle,
the loneliness of imprisonment,
the agony of torture or
the pangs of starvation,
you are ahead of 20 million people
around the world.

If you attend a church meeting
without fear of harassment,
arrest, torture, or death,
you are more blessed than almost
three billion people in the world.

If you have food in your refrigerator,
clothes on your back, a roof over
your head and a place to sleep,
you are richer than 75% of this world.

If you have money in the bank,
in your wallet, and spare change
in a dish someplace, you are among
the top 8% of the world’s wealthy.

If your parents are still married and
alive, you are very rare, especially in the United States.

If you hold up your head with a smile
on your face and are truly thankful,
you are blessed because the majority can,
but most do not.

If you can hold someone’s hand, hug them
or even touch them on the shoulder,
you are blessed because you can
offer God’s healing touch.

If you can read this message,
you are more blessed than over
two billion people in the world
that cannot read anything at all.

You are so blessed in ways you may never even know.

BBQ COOK OFF??

Category: General Comments — infohungry @ 8:17 am

What’s the deal with the bbq cook off for river days?? I called the chamber of commerce yesterday to find out how to enter and was told all slots were filled. I understand I was late in inquiring but honestly just saw it on this site and knew nothing about it until then. Then i went to reading about it and it said the winner would get to keep the trophy in their business for a year, does this mean it was only open to business owners?? Possibly that belonged to the chamber??? I don’t think that is quite fair if it is so since it should be open to all who want to participate. Can someone tell me if i am wrong in assuming this. If i am wrong I would just like to know why it states you can display it in your business for the next year. Thanks

Be Proud

Category: General Comments — hwhite @ 7:25 am

This past weekend I went to watch our fine young men and women at the Jr ROTC Nationals competition in Daytona. Our kids were so well behaved and worked very hard to represent us well. I have been around this program since my oldest daughter was a freshmen four years ago. The instructors and parent volunteers have done a fantastic job to have a group like this. I would also like to mention that we were eating supper Saturday night by the beach. We were overlooking the beaches ampitheatre and were listening to a fantastic band. At the end of their performance they were introduced to the crowd-It was the Lowndes County High School performance band!!! Southern Georgia was well represented in Daytona Beach this last weekend!

My Son is arriving in Bainbridge

Category: General Comments — revdaneeidson @ 2:22 pm

SSg Nathaniel (Nathan) Eidson is arriving in Bainbridge tonight. He is mine and my wife’s middle child. He served in Iraq for a year and just finished his duties in South Korea. He is going on to Fort Hood, Texas after about a month’s stay with me and his mother.
We have not seen him in almost two years. Tonight we are meeting him at the Tallahasse Airport and bringing our hero home for a good long visit. If I were a Peacock I do believe I would be strutting my tail feathers and cawing out all night long.
God bless all you other men and women of our Armed Forces. My prayers are with you all and with your loved ones. I know full well the worries one feels when their own loved ones are continually in harm’s way.
Rev. Dane Eidson
