Idiot Retailers In Bainbridge

Category: General Comments — Adjudicator @ 9:00 pm

I have a story to tell from events that happened this evening. I am only online now because I had to disconnect my VoIP phone and re-route cables to access the Web. I will tell my story about some of the incompetent retail people in this area soon. In the meantime, do other people have similar situations that they can think of involving space-headed morons (not necessarily from this area) that they can relate too? This is NOT a good sign for a progressive Bainbridge.

County Fire Chief Requirements

Category: General Comments — Iron Man @ 8:56 am

There have been many serious accusations being made lately regarding lies.

As reported by Larry Steiner on 29 Mar 2006:
After the meeting, volunteer firefighters expressed concerns.
They also expressed a concern that if there was not a certified Fire Chief for the County by June they may be forced to cease the Volunteer Fire Department. A Fire Chief being certified is mandated by the state within a year of assuming the position

As reported by Larry Steiner 30 March 2006:
However, in speaking with Chief Wall of the Georgia Fire Academy, a fire chief that does not actually suit up and fight fires is not required to have full certification. Chief Wall pointed out there are many Chiefs in Georgia that oversee fire departments and take care of administrative duties that do not have Fire Fighter certification.

Does this mean that the volunteer firefighters who made the above comments reported on 29 March 2006, lied?

GAS THEFT ANYONE?

Category: General Comments — opinionated1 @ 9:38 am

Has anyone had gas stolen from their cars. My husband and I have noticed about 2 gallons at a time go missing from our car and truck. this time the person did not even put the cap back on the tank and closed the cover door on my car. I would not have noticed it as much until the check engine light came on. I had to go to the dealership to have the code cleared out of the computer of my car.

I just found out after market locking gas caps are flawed in that they do not vent properly. As a result 2/3 of the after market caps will cause the check engine light to come on again! GM does not have locking gas caps.

I live in a residential neighborhood with lots of homes, so it is not like I am in the sticks. Also, reporting it to the law will not help because they were not there to see it so all they are doing is documenting it. I have an idea of who may be doing it-but I can’t seem to catch them. If we park in the back yard behind a locked gate with a mean dog, we run the risk of killing our grass. Short of staying up night up night after night with my NRA shirt, camos and a rifle, what’s a girl to do?

Any advise?

Affordable Housing

Category: General Comments — SuperDawg @ 7:30 pm

I know I am preaching to the choir here but I busted my butt, and my wife has done the same, to get what we have today. Everyone should be the same way but they are not. We have loafers and a lot of them. Affordable housing conference sounds like a bunch of crap at $25 a head. Get out, get a job, rebuild your credit if you have too, and affordable housing is not a problem. I’ll take my $25 dollars now….

Law Enforement is on the ball…

Category: General Comments — opinionated1 @ 2:18 pm

Great job to the Sheriff’s Department and Public Safety for all that they do. Look at all the recent drug activity that has been squashed thanks to the efforts and dedication of these folks.

Thanks for a job well done.

who is earl perry trying to fool??

Category: General Comments — skipo @ 12:30 am

What do you think about Mr. Perry and the grant writers? If I’m not mistaken, they were paid about 30 thousand more than he stated in the commissioners meeting. What happened to the bidding process on jobs for the county? “Boyd and Burke” has already shown the county that they can’t do the job, give someone else a shot at it, or is there some kind of connection between the two? Perry and (”Boyd and Burke”) Then there is the jail issue, I guess because it wasn’t Mr. Perry’s idea to let Stevenson and Palmer give their OPINION on fixing the jail, he don’t like it. Boyd and Burke must have a construction company also…Remember all the wasted money at ELECTION time this year…Heck you may even see a NEW name on the ballot…skipo

Bestiality Charge

Category: General Comments — PlunkettPrincess @ 8:37 pm

To Mr. Larry Steiner do you really call writing a disgusting and tasteless article on bestiality good journalism? Or, are you simply looking for comic relief for your website on a slow news day? Not only did you successful publish an article that will now have many children asking their parents “what is bestiality,” but you also demonstrated how ignorance abounds everywhere. While I am no way condoning this man’s actions, because it was a wrong, I am condemning yours. You should be ashamed to take a wrong and turn it into a joke for the entire county to read. Simply placing a listing of the incident in the arrest section would have been enough, but instead, you chose to show that ignorance and vulgarity also abounds outside the hog pin. Even when a person commits a wrong, he or she is still a person, and making a public joke out of him or her, in my opinion, places you both on the same level. I hope that in the future your website will chose to write articles that are of societal importance and save the comedy for those who know how to do it.

HFCS — Consumer Beware?

Category: General Comments — Adjudicator @ 11:21 pm

Interesting stuff, that HFCS:

The process for making the sweetener high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) out of corn was developed in the 1970s. Use of HFCS grew rapidly, from less than three million short tons in 1980 to almost 8 million short tons in 1995. During the late 1990s, use of sugar actually declined as it was eclipsed by HFCS. Today Americans consume more HFCS than sugar.

Flag Is Displayed Upside Down

Category: General Comments — The Showdown @ 10:04 pm

Does anyone know why the person on (edit out location-LS) is flying their flag upside down? I was simply curious.

Federal law stipulates many aspects of flag etiquette. The section of law dealing with American Flag etiquette is generally referred to as the Flag Code. Some general guidelines from the Flag Code answer many of the most common questions:

It is flown upside down only as a distress signal.

So what gives? What’s the distress? Please enlighten us.

Another sign of child abuse

Category: General Comments — revdaneeidson @ 3:54 am

I remember years ago watching a television program on this subject. I also remember an authority whose expertise was investgating child abuse stated that in the majority of child abuse cases where the offender or offenders owned pets were in fact abusing and/or neglecting children that they also abused and neglected their pets. I typed in the question on a search engine: “Is animal abuse evidence of possible child abuse?” To my suprise in the very few of the many studies I found over 80% of abusers who owned pets also themselves abused and neglected their pets as well as their children.
The point I am driving home in the post is that if a child seems often withdrawn, appears to have bruises, and appears to be depressed and if they do own pets that appear to be abused and/or neglected it is possible that this could be a red flag warning us that something wrong might be going on.
I am not stating we need to all now jump to a conclusion that abused and/or neglected pets is in fact solid evidence of child abuse. Like the article stated it is our responsiblity to report and the legal authorities responsibility to prove whether or not abuse and/or neglect of children is taking place. I think if we notice abused and/or neglected pets on a person’s property on a chronic basis and they have children maybe we should keep our eyes and ears open for the sake of the innocent.

Any Suggestions Here?

Category: General Comments — Adjudicator @ 10:59 am

This would probably fall under “lack of businesses in Bainbridge”, but does anyone know of a reputable gunsmith in the area? I have had no luck with this issue. Am trying to get a ’70s era HK pistol reblued (HK P9-S, .45 cal). Any help from forum readers would be greatly appreciated. TIA.

Credit Card Debts

Category: General Comments — revdaneeidson @ 12:52 am

My concern is for American citizens, especially for the young married and single men and women. We live in an age of instant gradification. We spoil our children. We are led to feel guilty if we can not afford all designer clothing, the best electronics, the most expensive toys. We have married men and women who force their spouses into working long hours to pay for the oppressive credit card debts from the purchase of their fancy toys. Some business pratices encourage this also. They know for a fact a person is employed with a job that pays barely above miminal wage. Yet they encourage them to finance items such as rims for their wheels that will long out last the car itself. We have the mind set that if we can not pay for it all just charge it. We are swamped by junk mail from loan companies that promise money for those things we always wanted and go on to pay out landish interest on top of principal for these same loans. We are robbing ourselves of retirement money because we are paying up to our necks all the credit card debts. The credit card companies will be only glad to raise your credit card limit when they see that our spending patterns show we always max out our credit cards. This revolving debt will become an unmericful master and rob you of your joy and create strife between you and your spouse.
Don’t get a credit card. Use only a debit card. Spend only what you can afford.
If you find yourself in this situation I suggest considering refinancing your debt with your bank and get a loan that has a fixed interest rate. You can not deduct revolving credit debt off your taxes. Take your savings and double up on paying off your fixed rate loan. Never ever again get a credit card. Your finacial security depends on it.
