Category: Decatur County Controversy — magnolia @ 7:17 pm

Sometimes we should stop and think that maybe if we were in someone else’s shoes what would we do in certain situations. Would you just idley stand by and watch dishonest actions or would you be a so called “Whistleblower?”

We have all had to make difficult choices in our lives, unfortunately, these guys made a decision that became a public fiasco. I myself cannot say what I would have done given if I were faced with such a difficult task .But I can say that I bet I can guess why all are not joining in on the lawsuit. Could it be the love of a job and not they love of money? Could it be that they would just like to continue working in the field that they feel they were destined to do and are experienced and good at?

I can honestly say that I know first hand how difficult their job is, having lost my home to a devasting fire!! I stood in my front yard and watched my home burn to the ground, knowing that it was too far gone to save, but the DCFR were there to help us anyway they could some of them not knowing that my brother was a firefighter who I did not see there that day because he was off duty and working at his Second job!! That’ s right I said second job.
Not that I thought he could do any more than the others, but he would have done all that he could and will continue to do . What’s done is done and the truth will all come out and if not one day we will all have to stand before the one TRUE JUDGE!

What can my son and I do here

Category: General Comments — aidynrain @ 3:12 am

Hey everybody! I am very new to Decatur County. My husband has been here since July but the children and I did not move down here completely until October. Anyway, I am looking for information on any Baby & Me classes or baby music classes that I can do with my 1 year old son during the week. He is still to young to really enjoy the parks unless I let him eat all the wood chips he wants! The goats, pony and those big birds scare him so I can’t take him to those. We just get bored when my older 3 are at school and daddy is at work. I saw the library has a toddler story time, but I think he would rather pull down books then listen to a story. Anybody have any ideas or know of something geared towards mommy and babies. I also need to meet moms here too!!

kids leaving for military

Category: General Comments — working_mom @ 8:23 am

“I have decided to go into the military where I know I will have the opportunity to better myself.” quote from who me….. I have a son that went in the Marines. Yes its hard to see them go. Honestly, that is a smart young man. However, I have second thought about them being in combat. Go look at a casualty list. You will see low ranking casualties. That is what scares me. Also… I have to defend the Marines. They are a family, they take care of each other. I know my son is overseas. He & his room mate have a close friendship. My point is, no matter which branch, the job is the most important issue.

Potential Planning Problem?

Category: General Comments — Iron Man @ 1:05 am

I’m a little late in reading Saturday’s PSL having been out of town. I read the report of the planning commission meeting. At the end of the article all of my red flag warnings went up when I read about Mr. Clayton Kelley’s request for exemption for a 1st floor residency in the central business district due to mobility issues because he is in a wheelchair.

My wife and I have had some experience dealing with governement and institutional officials when it comes to disability rights. As a general statement, I would say that officials normally try to avoid, circumvent or outright ignore people’s rights. I hope this does not happen in this case. These things tend to get ugly if not handled promptly and with an eye on the law.

Big Daddy Weave concert

Category: General Comments — The Showdown @ 11:27 pm

If you missed Big Daddy Weave and Michael Olson tonight, you missed out on a great time with the Lord. Tonight was a blessed night
as many teenagers and parents came out to celebrate their relationship with the Lord in song with these great artists. We are so thankful
for FCA and Live 101.9 bringing this concert to Bainbridge. I hope there are more to come in the future. The crowd wasn’t as large as
expected but the most important thing is that the Lord showed up and filled the Decatur County Memorial Coliseum with His joy , praise
and love. Praise the Lord for everything in our lives. May God bless you in everything that you do!

10 Second Rule?

Category: General Comments — hwhite @ 2:08 pm

Does everyone remember when we were kids and we dropped candy and yelled “10 second rule”. Why are we still that forgiving as adults with our food? I am addressing the scores for inspections of our eating establishments. Is there a point that a place is closed down? We had seen a restraunt not too long ago that had a 50. Does failing carry any reprocussions? For the longest time xxxxxxxx had a failing grade…don’t think they do any more, but they were still allowed to operate after 4 consecutive failing scores. Does this encourage restraunts to change the habits? My hubby had a good idea today. How about if they have to display their scores as a letter grade, 24 inches high outside the establishment. Or, give them a probationary time to get that score up or shut their doors! Congrads to all those establishments caring enough to keep their health inspections great. Shame on the establishments who don’t care enough about our health to clean up their act! If anyone knows what reprocussions there are that come with a failing score or a mulititude of failing scores, please share with the class.

Mother Goose

Category: General Comments — ordinary citizen @ 11:51 am

I could be wrong, but didn’t another day care have a child walk away from their facility and be found in or near the street some months back?
I also believe that I remember, years back, Mother Goose had some type of controversy that had do with not admitting a handicap child?

Also, didn’t some day care close their Zorn Rd. facility without telling employees and parents until they showed up on Monday morning? Now, I could have some of my information incorrect, but I do know that not all of it is. It is amazing to me that some how problems are never too far away………

I know, I know….anytime you are working with peoples children, there will be complaints, but these made it to public knowledge….how many more did not?

A Poem in Honor of the Brave

Category: General Comments — RevDane @ 5:44 pm

I am a father of two soldiers. Since Veteran’s day is upon us and the fact my son, 1st Lt. Jerry Eidson lost four of his comrades this last week, I wrote this poem to honor them and all fallen veterans of all of America’s wars.
I do not claim to be a gifted poet. But these words are my own and they come from my heart:

A SOLDIER FOREVER RESTS
Today another soldier on the battlefield no longer marches and roams.
The Captain of his salvation has beckoned him and has called him home.
Today the soldier’s angel has ushered him to the golden shore,
Where weapons are not needed and they no longer study wars.
This soldier faithfully answered his Nation’s call and did not complain.
He willingly fought to preserve our freedom and for this he was slain.
Now the Holy Commander and Chief honors him with a crown in the glorious land,
Before the very throne of God on the glassy sea where the hosts of Heaven stand.
Jesus his Captain shout’s the soldier’s name over the hills of the land of eternal rest.
He smile’s at the soldier and proudly says, “Well done my soldier you have done the best.
It’s time now son to lay your weapon down, for now your home with me to forever rest.”

Here we go again…

Category: General Comments — sirduke @ 10:24 am

The Plot sickens!
Just when we thought that the problems with the county government were gong to get better, up pops another issue. Or in this case, several issues.

Now it is credit cards issued by Jim Bramblett without knowledge of the commision, and used without them even knowing it. Sounds like an attempt to perhaps discredit some of the commisioners perhaps? Mr. Perry is rather outspoken in his efforts to straighten out some of the mess we have, could it be that someone wants him out of the way?

Perhaps the people of the county should consider replacing Mr. Bramblett. I haven’t been too impressed with his actions as of late myself.

And what about the mess with Michelle Lagace? It just gets worse and worse, with no end in sight.

Polling Problems

Category: General Comments — hwhite @ 5:51 pm

We just went and voted at the fairgrounds, and again, there were problems. This is after a complaint was filed at the last elections. When my husband and I walked in one of poll managers was yelling accross the room to the woman escorting the voters to the booths about a big problem concerning someone she knew she already wrote down coming through the line again. The unprofessional argument went on and on and on. Then, after I gave my husband standing behind me the “I cannot believe this” look, I got the same looks and verbalizations of disbelief from other voters behind me. Upon our arrival before all of this we obeyed the sign and made sure our cell phones were off. While waiting to be processed in the polling manager’s phone went off. It was extremely loud and she did not answer it so it rang for a long time. She mentioned “I don’t know who keeps calling me”, so this let me know this was not the first time it happened. How long are we going to let this go on? Is it going to take a candidate claiming falcities in the election and us having to encurr the cost of a whole new election?????? How sure are we about our polling results? There is no need for this much confusion, there were only five voters in there!!!!!!!!!!!!

Driving In Bainbridge

Category: General Comments — Insider @ 2:48 pm

Before I start I understand accidents happen. I know this from experience on both ends. There is one thing that I get so tired of while driving in Bainbridge. People not having courtesy for other drivers. I feel that young people are not being trained well in driving and plain common sense. I feel we need to bring drivers education out of the closet for Bainbridge High Students. I am not saying that our town is worst than the rest but I live in Bainbridge and I am tired of having to slam on Brakes because someone pulled out in Front of me then turn 1 street down.

Beware of Dish Network’s Customer Service!

Category: General Comments — RevDane @ 1:55 pm

I pray that all whom may read this will understand that my motives behind my letter here is really truly not of revenge but one of a person who considers himself “My brother’s keeper.” I must warn my fellow citizens before they too become victims of a cold hearted uncaring representative of Dish Network.
What I am about to say first HAS EVERYTHING TO DO with my own experience last Saturday with Dish network.
My son Jerry Eidson is a West Point graduate. He is an Army Ranger. He is the platoon leader at the rank of 1st Lt. He is stationed in the “Triangle of Death” zone in Iraq. Just earlier this last week my son lost three of his friends to the satanic insurgents. Also just yesterday yet another soldier was killed and three more brave young men were wounded. Can you imagine what I must have went through as a parent? The worry sometimes seems unbearable but God gives me grace to carry this worry. My wife is also worried and get’s really scared at times.
With this all happening I call Sky Angel Satellite Company to find out what I must do to pick up their programming. They are an all christian network. They stated since I was a Dish Network customer I could get one of their techictians to turn my dish in the right direction and receive Sky Angel signals from my present dish.
I called Dish Network and in very clear and precise questions asked this Dish Network for everything I needed to purchase with them ahead of time for this work order to be accomplished. Aftger being transfered about three times I was told the only thing I needed was a new LNB for my present Satellite. I purchased it over the phone and payed for the service call and they sent it.
The technictian who came to my house that first time last week, to his credit, and to his company, A-1 Satellite TV of Donaldsonville, Georgia, was infact very polite and professional with me. He did his very best to please me, the customer. So I have no problem with them, but only fault the ruthless uncaring persons whom this very technictian must deal with employed by Dish Network.
Come to find out after two visits from the tech. to my house what I needed was a part Dish Network no longer carried. Dish Network informed me after my protests that they were not responsible for any misinformation given to me from their employees. That I must eat the cost if I wanted the part to pick up Sky Angel. I paid a year in advance non-refundable with Sky Angel with the understanding that the first call I originally made to Dish NetWork for this tech. order was told to me correctly.
Now remember folks, my wife and I have been through hell with news from what is happening with our baby boy over in Iraq. So this little incident with Dish Network last weekend was like a pipe that bursted and brought forth all that pain my wife and I have been through. So I said to the Dish Network representative, “Well just cancel this stupid service then!” The Dish Network representative replied, “You will pay an early termnation fee of over $200.00″ I asked, “Even if your original contact told me wrong and I find out now I mujst pay even more for this service?” He replied, “This is not my problem. It is yours. You signed a contract and you will pay over a $200.00 fee on top of your final bill for cancelling early.” I hung up the phone because I was just plain too tired from sleepless nights worrying about my little baby boy.
In the mean time this kind tech went from my house with a promise to supply me the part for free that I needed and he would do his best that very night to get me the service I payed for. So he leaves to come back late that evening.
Two hours go by and I receive a call from Dish Network. It is a female this time and she has a very rude tone toward me. She informs me that they disconnected my service since I hung up on them and my last words were to cancel. I then informed her of all the heartache my wife and I went through and I was reacting under great fatigue and worry. To my hurt this did not matter to her at all. She informed to get my service turned back on I would have to pay two months up front because after all I was the one a fault for hanging up. I asked her , “Mam, don’t you have a soul? Are you a human Being? Did you not hear the hell my wife and I have been through?” She said in a sarcastic tone, “I am sorry for that, but you will still owe us two months in advance.” It suddenly dawned on me that why should I continue to do business with a comapny whom employs ruthless cold hearted individuals. I stated, “Then mam keep my account closed. I wil go somewhere else.”
I want everyone to know that I tried to resolve this with Dish Network before I posted this comment. I tried clling the sales and customer service of Dish Network. I had to repeat this story over to each and every person of Dish Network I talked to. I wrote them an urgent e-mail. I even tried calling their cooperate office “Echo Star.” But I received no response, no caring person, and no answers to my many phone calls to Dish network.
Let me ask you people who read this. How would you react to an uncaring person with the load and fatigue of worry over a son who nearly lost his life? Would you at least make an exception for that worried parent because of a bad attitude in a moment of weakness? Dish Network apparently has no mercy. They have no thought for our parents facing the fear of a chaplain one day ringing their front doorbell.
I urge everyone to cancel your subscription to Dish Network. even if it cost you money like it has me, I would cancel anyway. I do not want another parent of another soldier to be hurt and dumped on by a company that does not care and but only worships the green colored god.
Rev. Dane Eidson

Do We Need a New Rule?

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 3:15 am

Maybe we need a new rule in Bainbridge.

If you don’t Vote, you can’t complain.

As of 3pm Wednesday afternoon, Doris White of the Elections office stated only 95 advance votes have been cast.

The total number of eligible voters for the City of Bainbridge election is 6,295. She stated this was about the same as the e-Splost vote that was in September that was a county wide election.

Advance voting can be done at the elections office on the first floor of the courhouse between 7am and 7pm through Friday. It only takes a few minutes of your time.
