commission jobs

Category: General Comments — working_mom @ 9:50 pm

It seems to me like jobs are getting harder to find. Commission jobs are on a rise. I would never have thought some of the jobs would be commission. I cant believe that some people dont realize that a waitress gets $2.15 an hour. Car sales, Furniture sales, etc… I wonder why its all commission nowdays?

not important

Category: General Comments — working_mom @ 9:31 pm

I bet if you were the one opening the new business, bringing more work to this town it would be important to you. She came here, leased her building, hired contractors. Spent a bookoodle of money. We need businesses. But we need businesses to be informed of the city codes also. OH WELL!

Leisure Services

Hats off to Leisure Services and the people who put together the baseball tournament for the Bainbridge baseball players to participate in. Bainbridge is very lucky that people are stepping up to help the baseball players prepare to compete with surrounding counties and keep them playing. Coaches such as Richard Wilson and Keith Faircloth who continually work with the players during off season should be commended.

We need new businesses

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 11:30 am

Yes we all agree we need more business and more jobs.

What do we need to do to get more business into Bainbridge and Decatur County?
So what specifically is being done wrong?
What do we need to do to be better?

Neon Signs

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 3:12 am

There is much discussion going on in Bainbridge regarding the new sign ordinance. What are your thoughts on whether or not a neon sign should be allowed outside a business?

So why is this such a big deal?
Does a neon sign really make or break a business?
I think Mayor Reynolds made several excellent points. First being, if the Blue Orchid is a good restaurant, they will not need a sign. Their customers will find them.
The second important point is “Be careful what you open this up to.” Certainly the Blue Orchid has a very nice neon they want to show. The problem that we face as a city is that the next business may have an absolutely ugly neon to put up.
Now that would certainly hurt the overall historic downtown area appearance that the City and the downtown merchants are trying to achieve.
I really think we are better served by our attention and our city council attention being on other items that would help us all.
Let’s don’t waste time with this, it’s not that important.

What do you think?

Decatur County

Category: Decatur County Controversy — Larry @ 3:00 am

So what’s up with the Decatur County Commission and county management?

About 2 months ago since we have began to cover breaking news on BainbridgeGA.com, I have gone to the County Commission meetings and the City Council meetings.

Typically the city council goes about taking care of the business of running the city with not a lot of controversy. That is certainly not the case with the County Commission.

So what’s up with this? What are your thoughts?
