April 24 & 25
On Friday,
at about 9:30 pm, Officer Jason Barlow responded to an assault at 108 South Sims Street. The 27 year old female reported to the officer that she was in her apartment watching TV with her children on the couch.
She stated that Travis Toliver came through the front door, locked the door and then began hitting her. She stated that her child attempted to move away from her and Travis hit the child. Officer Barlow attempted to make contact with Travis at 108 Sims Street Apartment 5C, but was told that he didn't live there anymore.
Then on Saturday,
at about 6:45 pm, Officer Barlow responded to an E Troupe Street residence regarding threats. The same female told Officer Barlow that she was there visiting her friend. She reported that her child came in and told her that Travis Toliver walked up to her child at the playground and told her that he was going to kill her mother.
The female also reported that her friend told her that Travis had talked to her on the previous day before he had assaulted her. She stated that Travis had told her friend that he was going to beat the hell out of her and she would never look the same. Officer Barlow continued his attempt to find Travis but was not able to make contact with him.
April 22
A red Honda 250 motorcycle was reported stolen from Phillips Pope Road to Deputy Spencer Mock. The owner stated it waas taken sometime Tuesday night and that it had been setting beside his home. It is a 2004 CRF 250R Honda valued at $3,000.
April 21
At about 8:30 pm, Captain Jack Bunting responded to an assault with a blade at 222 Planter Street. The victim stated he was in his room at the boarding house where Amy Hearns also lives. He stated she came into his room and began to accuse him of being hateful. He stated Amy was drunk and wanted to know why he hated her.
Amy became irate and cut him on the shoulder and the neck with a box cutter. The officer found Amy on Independent Street and she said she had not been home and did not know anything about this it. Captain Bunting had responded to the same location a week earlier where Amy had cut another boarder. Amy Hearns, 34, was arrested for battery.
April 21
At about 1:30 pm, Cpl Brian Boyett responded to a dangerous dog in the 300 block of East Evans Street. Cpl Boyett found a woman laying on the sidewalk holding an injured dog. She stated she was walking her dogs on leashes when a large dog attacked her dog. She started hitting the large dog trying to stop the dog from attacking her dog.
When she grabbed her dog into her arms, the large dog showed its teeth at her. People stopped in their cars and helped to run the large dog away. The officer found the large dog on the porch of 511 Academy Street. Animal control was notified and picked up the large dog from 511 academy street.
Cpl Boyett saw that one of the house windows was broken and dog hair was on the window frame. The dog's owner, Laurel Mobley, stated a man was pressure washing the house and it irritated her dog. She said that her dog was able to bust through her window because the wood around the glass was rotten. Laurel Mobley was issued a city summons for the charge of dangerous dog.
April 22
At about 5 pm, a dog theft from was reported stolen from 1011 E Broughton Street to Officer Archie Mills. The resident stated that someone had stolen her brown 1 1/2 year old pregnant rednose pit bulldog. A neighbor reported a red Ford Ranger pickup truck with a white male had been in the area.
April 21
An assault was reported on Sharpe Street to Officer Greg Brown. A mother reported her juvenile son was traveling to the probation office on his bicycle when he was jumped by several individuals on Evans Street. The juvenile reported he did not know who they were or remember anything about them. He stated all he knew was they came from behind the bushes, knocked him from his bike, and punched and kicked him. He had visible knots on his head and a busted and swollen lip.
April 22
At about 8:30 pm, a theft from 510 Pine Street was reported to Captain Jack Bunting. The complainant stated he was remodeling a house and was using a generator. When he began to cleanup sometime around 4 pm, he found the generator was missing. It was described as a red Honda with paint splattered on it from spray painting houses.
April 21
At about 6 pm, a burglary on North Miller Ave was reported to Sgt Jon Harrison. The resident stated that when he returned home from work, he found that his Dynex 22 inch flat screen TV and a Craftsman lawn mower was missing.
April 20
At about 5 pm, a burglary on Academy Street was reported to Officer Jason Barlow. The resident reported the lock on her shed door had been broken and her lawn mower and weed eater had been stolen.
April 16
At about 1:30 am, a road safety check was being conducted at College and Scott Streets. Officer Archie Mills saw a vehicle slow down to a crawl as it headed north on Tallahassee Highway at about Lake Douglas Road. The black Galant began to back up for over 30 feet and with cars behind it blowing their horns, it veered onto Lake Douglas Road and stopped.
Tony Murphy bailed out and took off running into an adjacent yard. As Officer Mills pulled up, he spotted Brittany Register get into the driver's seat and begin to seatbelt herself in. When the officer asked the 3 left in the car who ran away, they all just looked at each other. Officers swarmed the area and Tony Murphy walked up to Officer Mills and said he was giving up. Tony Murphy was arrested for obstruction, improper backing, impeding the flow of traffic, and driving while not licensed. Brittany Register was arrested for obstruction. With no one in the vehicle able to produce a license, Rathels towed the vehicle.
April 16
At about 10:30 am, Officer Chris Jowers responded to a burglary on Water Street. The resident stated she came home from work and found her big screen TV moved away from the wall, the DVD player flipped over and clothes all over the floor in each room. An hour later, a neighbor reported that at about 9 am, she saw 4 boys go into 1506 Powell Street. Sgt. Jon Harrison and Officer Jowers spoke to the neighbor who stated she saw Cedrick, Marquevis and 2 others.
Investigator Mark Esquivel responded and upon a search of the residence, found a number of stolen items. Arrested was a juvenile offender as well as 17 year olds Marquevius Jocques Osborne and Cedric Lamonte Rogers Jr. They were all charged with burglary.
April 20
At about 1 am, 911 received another call regarding domestic violence at 241 Martin Road. (past article-Just Another Day of Violence)
The complainant reported to Sheriff's Sgt. Efrain Beltran that her brother, Carson B. Givens, was cursing and yelling at her mother. (She had also reported that Carson was shoving bacon down her mother's throat). The complainant stated that the reason Carson was cursing and yelling at her was because she wouldn't give him the keys to a pickup truck.
The complainant stated that after Carson bonded out of the Decatur County Jail, the Magistrate Judge Linda Fowler told him not to return to 241 Martin Road. The complainant stated that Carson ignored the judge and returned to the residence immediately and uninvited.
Carson stated that the reason he cursed and yelled at his mother was because he was tired of his girlfriend being incarcerated. Carson was also extremely uncooperative while being questioned about the incident and had a strong odor of an alcohol. A copy of the incident report is being sent to the Magistrate Judge.
April 20
A trailer theft from Tex-par was reported to Captain Brad Lambert. the trailer taken was a 2003 Byer 8.5 ft X 18 ft utility trailer with tandem axle, wood floor, side rails, rust in color, and has a place on the rear for double ramps, but they are not on it.
April 18
A 23 year old female came into Public Safety to report an assault. She reported to Sgt Marvin Knight that her ex-boyfriend, Henry Banks, struck her several times in the face. She stated the argument started while she was sitting in a running vehicle with her child in the back seat. She had visible bruises, a laceration under her right eye, and swelling on the right side of her face. She also stated that banks had pulled all of her new hair out.
Henry Banks stated to the officer that he did strike her in the face but that she started at him first. Banks was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.
April 18
A theft that occurred on Friday night was reported to Sgt Ray Cox. The resident stated that a riding lawn mower was stolen from a shed at the rear of his Bethel road residence. It is a white and black MTD Yardmaster mower with a 48 inch cutting deck and 17.5 hp engine. The key was not in the ignition at the time of theft. Tracks were visible in the yard where it was pushed AWAY TOWARDS King West Apartments.
April 18
A theft that occurred on Friday night was reported to Sgt Ray Cox. An $1100 5ft X 10ft utility trailer was stolen from Hallcraft on Bethel Road. It is described as a home made single axle trailer with new black paint, new white spoke wheels, new tires, new lights, new wood decking, a new trailer jack and has eye bolts mounted around the rails.
April 17
Officer Rusty Day responded to a theft at Pizza Hut. They reported a deposit was missing. They reported that two individuals had taken a bank deposit to Regions Bank and dropped the deposit in the night drop and left. The main office notified the store that the deposit was never recorded. In an attempt to have Regions check their security tapes, they stated it could take a few weeks to get a copy of the tapes. the case was turned over to Investigator James Dollar.
April 17
At about 2 am, Sheriff's Deputy Steve Black responded to Lacounts in reference to a stolen cell phone. The complainant stated her ex-boyfriend, Quentin Harvey, told her to come outside and he would give her a $100. She stated that when she got outside, Harvey went through her pockets and took her LG cell phone. She stated Harvey hit her a couple of times and left traveling down Florence Drive. She stated they followed him and stopped him. When she told Harvey she wanted her phone back, he told her that he threw it into the woods.
Quentin Harvey stated he only had two cell phones on him and allowed Deputy Black to search him with no luck. Harvey stated he never took her phone. Quentin Harvey the two of them had an argument when he told her that if she was pregnant, she doesn't need to be out in the cold.
April 16
At about 1:30 pm, Cpl Brian Boyett responded to Broughton Street to a simple battery. Kanisha Jones stated she was behind the residence and her baby's daddy, Randy Cox, got mad at her. Kanisha stated Randy pushed her down to the ground and started kicking her. EMS was called and after they arrived Kanisha refused medical treatment.
Randy Cox spoke to Cpl Boyett by phone. Randy stated he was on his mother's back porch getting ready to celebrate her birthday when Kanisha came up to him throwing baby clothes in his face. Randy stated Kanisha stated she did not need his help with the baby. Randy stated he tried to back away but Kanisha continued getting into his face cussing and arguing. Randy stated he pushed Kanisha away from him and she fell to the ground. Randy stated that she then started accusing him of hitting and punching her.
April 16
About 8:30 am, a car burglary at Boulevard Park was reported to Cpl Brian Boyett. The complainant stated she was walking around the park. She discovered the front drivers window of her Toyota Camry had been broken. She stated that her purse was stolen from the car's trunk containing $15, a checkbook and identification. She stated she saw a suspicious black male wearing a black hat and black jacket. She saw the black male heading north on Collier Street.
April 15
A car burglary at Boulevard Park was reported to Officer Anthony Stubbs. The complainant stated she was walking around the park. She discovered the front passenger window of her Jeep Cherokee had been broken. Stolen was her purse with $3 and her wallet and indentification. A witness observed a black male with black jacket and black hat sitting in the playground area near the parked vehicle. She stated the black male kept his head down the entire time she was in the area.
April 15
At about 9 pm, Captain Jack Bunting heard a loud sound coming from a vehicle in the alley between Broughton and Water Streets. In the alley he found a green Ford Crown Victoria registered to Laqounta Riles. Captain Bunting turned on his lights, the car stopped and the male driver looked into his side mirror and saw him.
The male then backed the car into a driveway, got out, and took off running. He headed between the houses to Water Street and ran west. After a short chase Captain Bunting returned to the vehicle. Cpl Aaron Brown contacted Laqounta Riles at her work and she refused to say who was driving her car. She just wanted to know how to get her vehicle back.
The male that ran was identified as Michael Kendrick. Later at Public Safety, Captain Bunting explained to Laqounta Riles that Rathels Towing had a hold on her car until the case was solved. When told she could not get anything out of the vehicle, she asked "How can I get into my house." He told her that she would have to talk to her boyfriend about that problem and suggested that she did not need to let someone like that use her vehicle. She responded that he was not her boyfriend.
April 14
A resident in Flint River Heights reported to Deputy Steve Black that his home had been burglarized sometime that day. Over $2500 worth of fire arms were taken from the home.

April 14
At about 9 pm, a burglary was reported to Officer Ryan Deen. A Boxwood Drive resident stated a chrome plated 357 Smith and Wesson pistol and a pair of Costa Del Mar sunglasses were stolen from his pickup truck the previous night. He stated he had forgotten to lock his truck.
April 14
At about 4:30 pm, a theft on Martin Street was reported to Officer Jason Barlow. The Damascus Georgia resident stated she had parked in the driveway at about 4 pm. When she came back out 30 minutes later, her car keys and purse was gone. She reported that she had $3,000 in cash, a check and her drivers license in the purse.
April 14
A car burglary on south hall Street was reported to Officer Anthony Stubbs. The resident reported a Phoenix Arms HP 25 auto firearm, valued at $145, had been stolen from her vehicle.
April 12
Officer Demetric Stubbs discovered the road closure barricades moved out of the way to Boat Basin Road. He checked the area and discover a vehicle leaving. Following behind the pickup, the officer noted it was weaving off the road.
After a roadside test, Deborah Dacosta, 49, was taken to the Jail for a breath test on the Intox 5000. Captian Bunting was there to administer the test. She told him she wanted a blood test, but was told that would have to be at her expense, and after the breath test. Deborah stated she wanted to call her lawyer. Again it was explained that she needed to take the breath test.
Finally she put her mouth up to the machine pretending to blow. A few seconds later, she would make A tone sound like the machine makes when finished and say she had blown in the machine. For some reason the officers did not believe her.
Deborah then stated she had blown on the machine on the side of the road and twice at the jail and that was enough. Deborah made several racial remarks to Officer Demetric Stubbs. Deborah stated she had done nothing to be locked up for, and to give her the tickets and let her go home saying "You have not proved that I am DUI."
Deborah Dacosta, 49, of Coolidge, Ga was charged with DUI.

April 12
At about 6:30 pm, Sheriff's Deputy Vincent Edmond and Corporal Patrick Trolinger responded to a domestic dispute on Fluitt Road in Attapulgus. The complainant stated that her husband, Travis Clemons, had been drinking heavily and began to argue with her.
She stated that Travis was very upset about the recent death of his friend, James Christian, and began arguing with her about who had killed Christian. She stated that she told Travis to calm down and Travis grabbed her around her neck and pushed her down. She stated that when Travis's aunt, Pearl Campbell, separated them, that Travis pushed Pearl. When Deputy Edmond spoke to Travis, he could tell that Travis was heavily under the influence of alcohol.
Travis stated that he and family members were talking about the death of James Christian, and he became angry when someone told him that the killer had skipped town. Travis stated that he did not mean to push his wife down, but that she got in the way of an argument with another family member. No action was wanted by the parities involved.
April 12
At about 2:30 pm, officer Jowers responded to a burglary on Sharpe Street. The resident reported that he and the guy who cuts the grass was sitting in his apartment watching TV. He said he fell asleep. When he woke up, the man was gone and so was the TV.
April 11
A resident of Linda Avenue reported to Deputy Daryl Long that his truck had been burglarized. He stated that 2 gold rings and a .25 caliber black Beretta automatic pistol had been stolen.
April 11
One of the Henry's was again arrested for jumping in front of traffic attempting to get a ride home. BPS responded first to a call of a prowler that turned out to be Charles Henry knocking on a Spring Creek resident's door. He was dressed in black clothing and was warned about jumping in the road. An hour later, Several drivers complained they had to swerve to miss hitting him standing in the road, Charles Eddie Henry, 54, was arrested.
April 8
Sgt Marvin Knight responded to Broughton and Collier Streets to a fight about to occur. The resident reported that a male by the name of Jeremy Brown was there threatening them with a gun. They reported that Jeremy and 2 other males ran through the alley between Broughton and Water.
The complainants also stated that the same males tried to run over them at nic's gas station earlier in the evening. Sgt Knight found the vehicle that Jeremy Brown was driving parked on the wrong side of the street and blocking a driveway to a residence. Parking tickets were written and the vehicle was towed.
April 9
At about 6:30 pm, a car burglary was reported to Officer Ryan Deen. The south West Street resident stated that on the previous night a passenger window to his car had been broken. Stolen from the car was $475 in cash, a pair of Nike Air Jordans, and a Pioneer stereo.
April 8
At about 6 pm, Officer Gary Hines responded to a domestic call on East Broughton Street. The complainant stated 3 males driving a blue box Chevrolet with a white driver's side door and a Seminole County tag had attempted to run him and some other people over. He reported that the 3 males then parked down the road, got out of their car and came back wanting to fight him and his relatives.
The complainant stated he believed it to be gang related because the three males had black bandannas hanging from they're back pockets. One told him "we are going to kick your ass for laughing at my fxxxxxg car". After he threatened to call the police, the three fled the scene. Reports show that the three males returned to this address on last night and started a fight.
April 7
At about 4:30 pm, Deputy Daryl Long met with Sgt. Andy Jones at the Decatur County Landfill. Sgt. Jones said an inmate working there had found a pistol in a bag of trash and turned it in to him. Sgt. Jones said the inmate told him it came from a white man driving a white Chevrolet pick-up truck pulling a trailer. The inmate also said the man had come from the Flint River Heights area where flooding had occurred.
April 6
At about 2 am, Officer Demetric Stubbs responded to a Shotwell Street parking lot to meet with the Muscogee County School (Columbus, Ga) baseball coach and his school bus of players. The coach reported a juvenile having possession of an alcoholic beverage. He had discovered beer while they were packing their baseball gear. Officer Stubbs tested the student with an alco-sensor and the result was 0.00. Disciplinary action will be taken by the School.
April 8
At about noon, a burglary on Cyrene Road was reported to Sheriff's Deputy Nick Godwin. At about 10:30 am, the resident was working on his property and saw someone in the distance around his house. He reported that his brother's girlfriend was going to be planting some flowers and did not give it another thought. At noon he went for lunch and found his garage entrance door open and several items stolen which included

April 7
At about 6 pm, a burglary in the 2900 block of Bethel Road was reported to Sheriff's Sgt. Efrain Beltran. the resident stated his home had been burglarized and a number of fire arms were stolen. The items stolen were

April 5
On Sunday night, Sgt Marvin Knight responded to Anderson Street and spotted a male subject being dragged out of the roadway. The male, Jimmy Hearns, had been assaulted. Hearns was extremely drunk and disorderly but he did say that his neighbor had struck him in the back of the head.
The rest of the story came from his neighbor. He stated that Hearns entered his yard threatening him and was told several times to leave. The neighbor headed into his house whereupon Hearns tried to force his way in. The neighbor then slapped Hearns off the porch. Hearns got up, walked into the roadway and fell right on his face.
Sgt Knight attempted to interview Hearns again but he was very disruptive and refused help from EMS. Jimmy Hearns really could not even remember what happened. Several other neighbors confirmed the story. Hearns was trespassed from several yards because he was always drunk and disorderly. Sgt Knight instructed Jimmy Hearns to stay in his yard for the night and told him the only reason he was not going to jail was because he was too drunk for the jail to accept him.
April 4
Several calls to 911 on Saturday night reported that a man had fired on another on Andrews Road, off of Highway 309 south. Deputies and State Troopers responded from throughout the county to the incident. Sheriff's Deputies Steve Black, Michael Cox and Sgt Michael Logue arrived on scene.
Deputy Cox found Danny Casteel standing in the road and reported that his brother, William Casteel, had shot at him with a shotgun. After deputies secured the shotgun, William first told Deputy Cox that he was only shooting at a dog, not his brother. Investigator Terry Phillips arrived and interviewed William Casteel again. William finally admitted that he had shot the gun in the air. Danny reported it all started over a TV he had gone to William's house to get.
William Casteel, 54, of Philyaw Road was arrested for simple assault.
April 3
At about 4 am, Deputies Steve Black and Brett Trammell responded to an alarm at Paces Fish Camp at 3439 Spring Creek Rd. They discovered the door window had been busted out with a brick. The owner reported to the deputies that several cases of beer and cartons of cigarettes had been taken. Investigators Victor Strickland and Captain Gale Bowyer responded to the scene.
April 2
At about 4 pm, BPS Sgt. Jon Harrison responded the corner of Scott and Green Streets regarding a stolen bicycle. The complainant stated that while in the convenience store, A black male came out of the store and got on his Huffy bicycle and road off west on Green Street. Officer Chris Jowers searched and found the bike parked at Briarwood Apartments.
Officers identified the thief as 21 year old Jermichael Murphy. Sgt Harrison questioned Jermichael and was told that when he came out of the store it was raining. He saw the bicycle and just got on and road to his aunt's house. Jermichael Murphy was charged with theft by taken.
April 1
Several residents on Riverchase Drive reported they had not locked their vehicles on Tuesday night. The result was snacks taken from one car that was rummaged through, and 2 others vehicles with items stolen. Reported stolen was a Sony 30 Gigabyte MP3 Player and a Canon 9.0 Megapixel Digital Camera with a 4 Gigabyte SD Memory Card.
A resident on Laurel Lane reported a $400 Apple iPod taken from his vehicle. He also left his car unlocked.
