Hello, Bowlers!
It's only five weeks into the new season and we have had three 300's shot! Earl Starling shot his first ever 300 Friday night. Witnesses said they thought he was going to have a heart attack (he did too!). He had a few "light" hits on his way to 300, but they carried. He said he was glad it happened in the third game, because he didn't think he could pick up the ball for a fourth game. Congratulations, Earl!
Daryl Wolf shot his second 300 in two seasons, and even I, Glenn Vowell, had a 300 game Wednesday night (my second one). Daryl added a 300 to the 802 series he shot last season.
The Monday Night Mixed League has a four-way tie for first."Under Dogs", "Who Cares!", "Sleven" and "It Don't Matter!". The best scores this week were shot by me, 257, Earl Starling, 249, and Alan Giles, 246. The ladies were led by Evelyn Hughes, 215, followed by Joan Denham and Phyllis Collins, who each shot 209. Alan had the top series of 672, Evelyn led the ladies with 555.
Cathy Crumb added to her impressive scoring spree recently by rolling her first ever 299 game. She has two 300's under her belt already, so we didn't feel too bad when her last shot resulted in a 10 pin standing.
The NFL Doubles on Tuesdays has the "Giants" in a commanding lead over the the "Saints. The best games this week were rolled by Roger Haire with a 278, Mike Snowden, 234 and Alex Bell with a 216. Mary Rykard led the ladies with a 198 game and Angie Goodwin shot a 169.
The Wednesday SuperMixed has "Yeah Baby!!" in first place by two points over "Just Do It!". Daryl shot his three hundred last week and I threw mine this week. David Beck rolled a 287 game and Daryl Wolf bowled a 278. The women had Jeanette Verrelli leading with a 226 and Michelle Kendrick rolling a 221.Derick Proulx had the best series, 729.and Jeanette shot a 630 series.
Thursday Morning Coffee ladies are bunched up at the top with the "Alley Cats" leading by two over "Pin Pals" and Pin Heads". Valerie Schultz led the girls this time with a nice 223 game, followed by Norma Bryan with a 197 and Joan Beaver (welcome back!) with a 186. Valerie had the best series, 564.
Friday Rollers has "Apogee" in first over Team 3. Earl shot his 300 in this league. He rolled it the third game and he said he was glad of that, because he didn't think he could throw another ball! (He shot a 621 set). Chuck Cierpik rolled a 227 game and 647 series while Fred Stanley shot a 216 game. Mary Heuring led the ladies with a 194 game and 525 series.
The Saturday AM Youth Bowlers are back. Team 7 leads by 2 points over Team 3. Alex Brinson leads the boys this week with a 171 game. Michael Evans bowled a 160. Amanda Rykard had the best game for the girls, 145 and Michael shot the best series, 459.
This weekend is the start of the 7th Annual Dog Days' Doubles., Yes, I know that the real dog days are in August, but we pushed the tournament back so that everyone could get back into the swing of things (so to speak). It will run three consecutive weekends ending October 26. We have two divisions, Open and Mixed. Bowlers will use last year's book average for handicap purposes.
So much to say, so little time!
Until, next time, Keep On Bowling!
