Leonard Dean, plant operations director at Bainbridge College, received the Distinguished Service Award from the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia, said Ron Reed, BOR director of management and operations, who presented the award during the annual Facilities Officers’ Conference. One of the determining factors for the award came from his work for the Kirbo Regional Center that will offer performance and conference facilities for the southwest Georgia region BC serves.

Bainbridge College Plant Operations Manager Leonard Dean (center) holds his Distinguished Service Award that he received at the annual Facilities Officers’ Conference of the University system of Georgia. With him are Vice Chancellor for Facilities Linda M. Daniels of the Board of Regents of the University System and Senior Vice Chancellor for External Activities and Facilities Tom Daniel.

“His positive attitude, hard work and congeniality in promoting Bainbridge College are exemplary,” said Linda M. Daniels, BOR vice chancellor for facilities.

“Leonard has dealt with challenges, is a team player and has helped us find solutions to move the Kirbo Regional Center project forward,” Reed said, adding that Dean has many years of service to the institution.

Dean, who has worked at the college since 1983 and is an alumnus, received the award during the BOR Annual Facilities Officers’ Conference that took place Nov. 7-9 at the University of Georgia in Athens. The conference gave the more than 150 participants the opportunity “to share ideas, concerns and information that can prove invaluable in executing their jobs,” Vice Chancellor Daniels said.

Dean earned his associate of applied science degree from BC in 1992, majoring in electrical construction and maintenance. He earned a certificate in that field before going on for his applied science degree.
