BC’s Wynton Hall Published in USA Today

The 5.2 million daily readers of the nation’s most-read newspaper, USA Today, opened their papers Feb. 28 to read a featured article by Bainbridge College speech communication professor Wynton C. Hall.

“Anytime you have the privilege of writing for USA Today it’s a special honor,” said Hall. “It’s considered the ‘Super Bowl’ of writing. I’m very grateful for my association with USA Today through the years.”

Hall’s article—“Do Effective Speakers Make Effective Presidents?”—built off his expertise as one of the nation’s leading experts on presidential rhetoric and political communication and is his fourth article published in USA Today.

The piece chronicles the relationship between several U.S. presidents and their communication talents. Professor Hall also notes that even strong presidential communicators, such as John Quincy Adams, have sometimes gone on to have disappointing presidencies. Hall says that successful presidents and leaders must fuse style as well as substance.

“At Bainbridge College I teach my speech students that successful persuasion requires powerful research and powerful speech delivery. You can’t have one without the other.”

The author of four books, Hall’s work has been published in the New York Times, Washington Times, Presidential Studies Quarterly and numerous other publications.
