Now This is Christmas Spirit
Nov 30, 2011, 02:00
The Woodams invite all to come by and enjoy the spirit of Christmas by viewing, as their custom Christmas song transmitting on FM in front of their house says, "5,000 twinkling lights and Santa Claus up on the roof..." and so much more.
Gary Woodams, the decorations with their custom song, but no video can take the place of seeing it yourself.
Gary Woodams says they have been decorating like this for about 30 years, and each year it gets a little bigger and better. It is truly so much that you just do not see everything with only one visit. He stated they actually make a lot of the decorations included.
The Woodams begin preparing about the first of October to put out their decorations. He tells us that it takes him about 6 weekends to put them up. They moved to 195 River Oaks Drive, off Spring Creek just outside the city limits, about 10 years ago. When building the house, he installed one full electric breaker box, 17 circuits, that is dedicated to lighting the Christmas decorations. He also planned a custom storage area for the myriad of boxes stored 9 months of the year.
Gary Woodams is a retired teacher that now teaches at Southwest Georgia Academy in Damascus, Ga.
And continue the Christmas spirit on Thursday evening with Christmas on the River which begins at 6:30 pm at the Earle May Boat Basin.
Please note that Saturday's inaugural Boat Parade of Lights has been canceled.
