Animal Cruelty and Guns

An Animal Cruelty complaint was received from Georgia Parole Officers at 908 James Street on Monday. Officer Gary Hines responded to find a dead dog with a large chain connected to it on his back porch.
James Byrd stated the dog was his but he did not know it was dead.
A second dog was found chained to a tree on the side of the house. There were no required tags on either of the 2 dogs. Animal Control was notified as well as Beth Eck from the Humane Society Shelter.
Animal Control took custody of both animals and James Byrd, 35, was arrested and charged with 2 counts of no dog tags and cruelty to animals. James Byrd was released on parole 10 months ago after serving 3 years on a cocaine charge.
Last Saturday
Two males pointing a gun at each other on Japonica Drive was reported at about 4 pm Saturday afternoon. The witness stated they had left in a dark blue Kia Optima and a blue Crown Victoria with tinted windows and large tires.
The witness reported to Officer Jason Barlow that in the driveway at 1021 Japonica Drive 2 men were arguing and then each of them pulled out a gun and pointed it at each other and then leave. In the Crown Vic was reported to be "Georgia Boy" and in the dark blue Kia Optima was "Runt".
The Kia Optima pulled down the street and Officer Barlow stopped them. Driving was Adam Croft with passengers Roderick Hallmon and Adam Hancock.
No weapons were found in the vehicle but a cold open beer was located spilled in the vehicle. Roderick C Hallmon, 28, of 1021 Japonica Drive was charged with open container.
