Marina Lease to be Considered

On Tuesday, the City Council will consider a proposal for leasing the Bainbridge Marina to William (Billy) and Lynn Birdsong. agenda here
If accepted, the Marina and Store operations will be taken over on September 1. In addition, the first phase of a Deli will be opened on the premises on December 1 with the full Deli operation to commence in March or April of 2009.
The Birdsongs state they have had an alcoholic beverage license in the past and would immediately submit their application for one in their name.
The proposal included a lease payment of 4.5% of total annual receipts to the City of Bainbridge for a 3 year period, with the option of first refusal of a 3 or 5 year renewal term. See the complete proposal
Items included in the proposed lease.
- Lessee will purchase all store inventory. (Fuel will be negotiated)
- Lessee will cover all repairs under $250.00. All major repairs will be paid by City.
- Lessee will provide their own General Liability Insurance to include all of the Marina.
- Lessee will provide their own business license, alcohol license and sales tax numbers.
- Lessee will be responsible for electricity and water/sewer bills.
- Lessee will pay the City of Bainbridge a 4.5% fee of Total Annual Receipts for the lease.
- Lessee will promise to maintain the grounds of the Marina.
- Lessee will provide all small equipment, food and supplies necessary for the deli.
Also
The City Council will consider an agreement with the City Of Thomasville to establish the fiber optic infrastructure. Decatur County Schools and local government will be the first beneficiaries of the high speed access. The cost of the project is estimated at approximately $800,000.
