The arrival of guest instructors for Bainbridge College's EMT students on Thursday evening was quite an entrance. Airmedic Flight Services flew in from Quincy, landing their helicopter in the College administration parking lot. EMS and Decatur County Fire and Rescue were also on scene for the landing.
Their mission on Thursday was to teach the EMT's in training when and why to call them and how to set up a landing zone.
Randy Williams is the Instructor of Emergency Medical Technology/Coordinator and spoke with us about the program.
The knowledge from airmedics can save critical seconds in getting patients to a hospital. Mr Williams also stated the College anticipates a paramedic program to be approved and to begin paramedic classes in January of 2009.
Joni Godwin is a flight nurse and a medical base supervisor for Air Medic Two. She stated they view outreach education for EMTs in school and coming out of school as very important as well as continuing education.
