JJE Receives $40,000 Grant

John Johnson Elementary has been awarded a $40,000 Technology for Teaching Grant from Hewlett-Packard.

During 2008, HP is granting awards to 110 K-12 public schools in the U.S. that are using a collaborative, team-based approach to implementing technology integration projects.

The project team (below) worked together with Dr. April Aldridge to write the grant entitled "REAL" Math.

The "REAL" Math project implementation will begin quickly working in collaboration with HP.  Each teacher receives for their classroom a digital projector, an HP digital camera, an HP OfficeJet printer, scanner, and copier.  In addition the school will receive an HP DesignJet Printer.

The HP Technology for Teaching Grant is a very competitive grant process and schools with teams that are most successful in implementing their proposed projects may be given the opportunity to receive larger leadership grants in 2009. 

JJE is extremely honored to have received this national grant and looks forward to integrating our "REAL" Math project into our Georgia Performance Standards as we continue to find innovative ways to educate all students.
