May 31

The Lake Douglas area was hit with a number of kiddie pranks on Friday night.  A number of residents reported air let out of their tires and mailboxes damaged.  One resident reported finding a stop sign in his pool along with several of his own bicycles.  No one reported seeing an adult pick up the kids after their pranks.

May 24

Officer Nigel Hurst responded to a report of shots fired at about 2:30 am in the grocery outlet area.  A witness told him that he saw several hispanic males standing beside the road and one of them was shooting a gun into the ground.   the officer went to the 800 block of Fleming St. and found the males standing beside the road.   Alfredo Dominguez walk over to one of the vehicles parked there and kick something underneth it.  Officer Hurst found a Smith & Wesson 38 Special and it  smelled as if it had just been fired.

When he asked Dominguez if he had shot the gun, he stated, "Just Boom, Boom, Boom".  Dominguez was arrested for firing a firearm within the city limits.

May 23

About 6 pm, Officer Jason Barlow responded to King West Apartments on Bethel Rd for a domestic problem.  He spoke to a woman that stated a 13 year old male juvenile was inside the house and going crazy.  She stated that he wanted her to leave the house after accussing her of stealing a blued .38 semi auto pistol.

Officer Barlow spoke to the juvenile and he said he last saw the weapon on Friday May 23.  The 13 year old juvenile stated the weapon was normally kept in his top underwear drawer located in his bedroom.   He also stated that he was informed that the weapon might be involved in the shooting on Broughton Street.  The juvenile agreed to attempt to locate the serial number for the report.

May 23

About 2 pm, Officer Pat Bryant responded to the Raceway regarding stolen money.  A customer was demanding $75 back that was overcharged on her debit card.  She told the officer that at 9:40 am, she bought $10 in gas and showed him the receipt to prove it.  The customer had gone home and checked her bank account to find that $85 was withdrawn from her account.

Officer Bryant asked the Raceway manager to see the copy of what was done on that pump.  The Raceway manager told the officer that he would not do anything without a bank statement from the customer's bank.  Officer Bryant again asked for the copy of the transaction from inside the store and the manager stated he did not have a copy.
The case was turned over to a Public Safety Investigator.

On Saturday Officer Archie Mills again responded to the Raceway regarding a terroristic threat.  He spoke to the customer's father.  He told the officer he walked in the store to pre-pay for the gas and asked if Mr. Nadeem was the one who charged his daughter $75 on her debit card for the purchase of only $10 in gasoline.   He said that "he told Nadeem to refund his daughter's money or he would make him wish that he had never been in this country."   He told the officer that he threatened Mr. Nadeem with legal means such as lawsuits, reports to federal and state business better business bureaus, and did not threaten violence.

He stated he was upset by the way business was operating there taking more than the charged amount from customer's bank account.  He also stated he pre-paid $14 for some gas and Mr. Nadeem refused to turn on the gas pump to retain him at the business until the police arrived. 

Mr. Nadeem Siddiqui stated the man had threatened to hit him when he asked if he was being threatened. Mr. Nadeem stated he did retain Mr. Brown by not turning on the pump to keep him at the store for the police. The clerk stated the man did not specify what type of threat was being made.

May 23

About 6:30 pm Officer Archie Mills responded to Jamestown Apts in reference to possible child molestation.   he spoke to a woman who stated that a man known as "Buck Wheat" entered her residence Thursday between 0400 and 0800 hrs and he felt up her 13 year old daughter.  She learned of the incident when she got home from work.  The 13 year old stated she woke up to find an unknown man, later known to her as "Buck Wheat", in her room rubbing her thighs.  She stated he grabbed her by the arm and he offered to pay for sex with her.  He kept pleading with her but she continued to demand he let her go.

The mother told the officer she had confronted Buck Wheat and he had driven away in a gold Chrysler.  Cpl. Aaron Brown spotted and stopped the vehicle and the man was identified as Issac Johnson.   Buck Wheat was identified by the victim. Investigator James Dollar responded.  Issac Johnson stated he was at work when the victim claimed he was in her residence with her. Mr. Johnson stated "how could he be trespassing when he worked with those people in the fields."   He was arrested for criminal trespass, simple assault, driving in violation of the 30 day residency required to get GA license and driving without a license on person.

May 22

A resident on Cloverleaf Circle awoke to find their bass boat stolen from their yard.  They reported to Deputy Nick Godwin the boat was last seen the previous night about 10:30 pm and discovered it missing about 7 am.  In the boat was various rods, reels, bream poles and tackle valued at around $1000.  The stolen boat is a red and black with metal flakes 1994 Stratos 275 Pro XL on a black stratos trailer with a 150 hp mercury outboard motor, a motor guide trolling motor and a hummingbird depth finder.  Value reported stolen was $11,000.  Investigator Redell Walton is handling the case.

May 20

At about 5:30 am, a call to 911 from a Pinehill Road residence reported a 4 month old infant not breathing.  Deputy Rick Ashley and EMS arrived to find the child had died, apparently several hours earlir.  The infants mother, Mary Beth Cook, is in treatment Thomasville and the child had been placed under Jennifer Castro's supervision.  Ms Castro reported gving the baby a bottle at 11:30 pm and that the child was under a doctor's care for breathing problems.

May 19

A burglary on Bethamy Church road made off with aproximately $12,000 worth of items.  Parts of junk vehicles, a number of vehicles and tractor batteries and the central A/C unit, a 750cc Norton motorcycle engine and a washer and dryer were stolen.  The case was turned over to Sheriff's Ivestigator Victor Strickland.

May 17

On Saturday, at approximately 8 pm, Sgt. Patrick Trolinger made a stop for brake lights not working on Dothan Road.  Sgt. Trolinger asked Jessie Lee Brown for his driver's license, he stated that he left it at home. Sgt. Trolinger noticed that Jessie Brown had a white substance on the tip of his tongue, as if he was trying to conceal narcotics.  Sgt. Trolinger asked Jessie Brown what was in his mouth and he said nothing.  He tried to stop Jessie Brown from swallowing it by placing a pressure hold around his throat and told him to spit the substance out of his mouth. 

Jessie Brown was able to swallow it and then admitted to Sgt. Trolinger he swallowed a small piece of crack cocaine.  Jessie then pulled a utensil commonly used as a smoking device out of his pocket and said "I just smoke it".  A search of the car also found a small amount of crack cocaine.  Jessie Lee Brown was arrested for possession of cocaine, possession of drug related object, tampering with evidence and driving while license suspended or revoked.

May 17

A church on Antioch Church Road reported their Rheem 2 1/2 ton air conditioner has been stolen.

May 15

Public Safety Officer Nigel Hurst responded to a report of a stolen gun from a vehicle on North West Street.  Brent East stated he found his Black Marlin 22 Rifle taken from his tool box on May 13.  He aslo stated the weapon was loaded with Winchester Super X, Hollow Points.  Officer Hurst went across the street to a pawn shop and found the gun.  The clerk told him a deaf black male identified as Eddie Henry brought the rifle in late on May 13, indeicated it was his brothers and she paid him $40 for it.

As it turned out, Eddie Henry was at Public Safety being booked on unrelated charges.  The charges of theft by receiving stolen property and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon were conveniently added and he was transported to county jail.  Eddie Henry has several felony convictions including burglary.

May 14

Officer Brian Palmer responded to Landmark Apts in reference to a snake on the manager's front porch.  Officer Palmer identified it as a rattle snake, and discovered it was dead.  Ms Welch, the manager, stated she had a problem with a tenant the previous day.  Public Safety Officers indicated they will investigate the incident further.

May 12

Public Safety Captain Robert Humphrey and Cpl Jon Harrison responded to a call on Lake Douglas Road and dealt with a male later identified as John Trotman.  After he shoved Captain Humphrey, the 2 officers attempted to handcuff him and John Trotman began to fight.  Everyone went to the ground and the officers finally got him handcuffed.  While being placed in the patrol car, Mr. Trotman was cursing and said "I will kill all you Mxxxxx xxxxxxs.  Mr. Trotman then started banging his head into the cage inside the patrol car causing 3 lacerations on his forehead.  He was transported to the hospital.

While in the ER, he continued cursing the doctors and nurses and officers and saying "I'm not through with you Mxxxxx xxxxxxs yet" and was handcuffed to the bed.  A few minutes later, Officers looked up and there he was dragging the bed across the room heading for the door.  He was further restrained.

May 11

Public Safety officer Archie Mills arrived at a domestic call at Hutto McGiver Apts to hear arguing and crying through the door.  He and Cpl. Aaron Brown went in and the female victim was upstairs in the children's bedroom.  She reported when her boyfriend 28 year old Michael Eugene Brown got home they began to fuss and fight.  Their son said Mr. Brown hit his mother with a broom in the bed and beat her.  She reported, and the officer saw evidence that Mr Brown,
snatched and tore the wall phone handle from the cord
choked her around her neck and tore her necklace loose
hit her on the shoulder and ripped off her hair weave
damaged the cell phone charger when he took the cell phone
burned her left wrist with a Black Mild cigar and tried to burn her on the right cheek
Michael Eugene Brown of Edwards Road was arrested for Simple Battery (Family Violence), Cruelty To Children (2 counts) and Interference With 911 Call.

May 8

At 7:16 pm, Corporal Jon Harrison received a call in reference to a fight in the 1100 block of Broughton St. Subjects were reported to have a knife and one had a gun. Corporal Harrison spoke to Barbara McClean who said that she pulled up and dropped off some kids. Barbara said that as she started pulling off and Kizzie Brown threw a brick at her car.
Kizzie Brown said Barbara got out of the car and said I don't care what none of you bxxxxxx say about me. I got a gun and will shoot all you mxxxxx fxxxxxx bxxxxxx.  Kizzie said she grabbed a brick and threw it at Barbara's car as she was leaving.

Corporal Harrison spoke to 3 witnesses who reported
1) Barbara pulled up and dropped off her kids and everybody across the street started yelling at her.  Then Kizzie Brown threw a brick at the car.
2) Barbara got out of the car and said if yall stand in a line I will shoot all you mxxxxx fxxxxxx bxxxxxx.
3) Barbara got out of the vehicle and said that she had a trigger finger that was itching and would shoot all of them.

A water gun was found in the car.
Corporal Harrison along with all of Bainbridge Public Safety have been dealing with problems and fights between these subjects and others. All attempts to resolve this problem have not been successful. Corporal Harrison placed Kizzie Brown under arrest for criminal trespass and placed Barbara McClean under arrest for terroristic threats.

May 4

At 9:28 pm Captain Robert Humphrey responded to Water Street in reference to a male (Jermaine) being assaulted by four or five females with sticks.  He found a large group of people all yelling obscene language and Jermaine with his face bleeding.  He then spotted Latoya Henry Henry holding a wooden board in one hand and a large knife in the other. Capt Humphrey instructed her to put the weapons down but Latoya started backing up and would not drop them so he had to take them from her.

Two females, Latoya Latoya Henry and Ashley Campbell, continued threating each other.  Latoya was arrested.  After talking with Jermaine and others involved, it was learned that Jermaine has a child by both Latoya and Ashley. Both women were angry that he was dating both women.

Earlier Latoya was with Jermaine at the petro on Dothan Road and Ashley pulled up.  This turned into a fight between Latoya and Ashley.  Jermaine and Latoya returned to Water Street.  Ashley got four or five other women and they rode by Jermaine's house and words were exchanged. Ashley and her friends got out of the car and a verbal fight between Ashley and Latoya once again became physical.
Jermaine stated that he tried to get between the two and was hit in the face. Humphrey arrested Ashley for disorderly conduct. More family members arrived and Latoya's mother was arrested for her conduct.  There were numerous other females that were with Ashley and were involved in the altercation but were not arrested due to conflicting statements.

May 3

At 12:14 pm, Officer Collin Hastey was dispatched to Washington Street in reference to an assault. A female reported to him that the previous night she met Charlie Johnson at the budget inn to spend the night together.  About 2:30 am, she stated that Charlie got mad and punched her in the face. They began to fight and he busted a gin bottle and held her down and began to cut her with it. Officer Hastey observed several cuts on her face in straight rows. There was also similar cuts on the back of her neck and her lower back.

She stated that she tried to call for help but he would stop her from using the phone. She did try to dial (0) for the attendant and lay the phone down, but no one ever came to the room. Charlie continued to keep her against her will until morning when he took a shower and she ran home and called the police.

Offficer Hastey went to budget inn motel and spoke to the cleaning personnel. They stated that they had already cleaned the room.  When asked if they noticed anything suspicious they told officer Hastey that there was blood everywhere.  There was two blood soaked shirts in the trash, the sheets were bloody and there was broken glass everywhere.
The shirts and the neck of the broken gin bottle was collected for evidence.  The case was turned over to Investigator Alton Brock.

May 5

A resident of Ronnie Lambert Road was in the middle of taking a shower when the water stopped suddenly. The resident stated that he went to the electric meter powering his residence and found that the copper wiring was missing that goes from the meter to his well. The value of the wiring about $80.00.

May 3

A brother and sister fight resulted in 911 dispatching officers to the scene. When officers arrived they spoke with the brother, Calvin Anderson who stated that he and his sister got into a fight over a cell phone. He stated that things cooled off but then he walked past her while she was sitting on the hood of a car and she kicked him. Calvin stated that he grabbed her legs and pulled her off the hood causing her to hit her head and shoulders on the ground. At that point the sister, Veronica Anderson, got in her car and went to the hospital. Officer Mills took Calvin and they went to the hospital to check on Veronica. Veronica told the officers the same story. Both Veronica and Calvin were advised that if one of them wanted to press charges that both would have to be arrested. Veronica decided that she wanted Calvin arrested so both were taken into custody. They both were later bonded out.

May 1

A migrant work house was being checked for incoming workers expected in about 2 weeks.  The house on Cooler Road was found stripped of copper.  Approximately $500 of copper tubing and pipes and shower heads were stolen.  Sheriff's Investigator Terry Phillips is investigating.

May 1

DNR Officer Tony Cox stopped Anthony Roberts and Justin Cogland to do a boat safety check.  He spotted a cigarette pack floating on the water near their boat and checked it.  He found a small bag of marijuana, arrested them, and brought them to Hales Landing.  Sheriff's Investigator Chip Nix met them and Anthony Roberts told him the marijuana was his.  Deputy Steve Black transported him to jail.
