Marjorie Mayfield stated the job fair was a great success on Tuesday. Ms Mayfield is the chairman of the SW Georgia Employers Committee.
The combined effort of the Labor Department and the Employers Committee was a way to bring together employers and people looking for jobs providing a valuable resource for our area. A number of employers set up in the new Cloud Livestock Facility on Tuesday afternoon.
Ronald Bowden attended and stated he has recently moved back to Bainbridge after 10 years in Atlanta. Ronald, who was a forklift operator at an Atlanta distribution center for 5 years, has been searching several weeks for a job. He told us a job has been hard to find here whereas Atlanta has plenty of jobs available.
Ms Mayfield stated that there was a line of potential employees at the door when they opened the fair at 1 pm. She said employers talked to several potential employees they will be bringing in to talk to about a job.
Bainbridge College's Gean Hendrix was at the job fair with the Georgia Work Ready program. He was showing potential employees the advantages of being Work Ready Certified.
Through WorkKeys assessment the Georgia Work Ready Certification measures skills that employers consider essential to success on the job. Companies increasingly use such assessments and certifications when hiring, evaluating incumbent workers, and promoting.
You can see how the Georgia Work Ready program benefits not only job seekers but employers as well at their web site.
