Got Your Raft Ready?

The Flint River Raft Race is only a week away so this is your last weekend to get your raft going.  River Town Days festival will be on May 9th and 10th at the Earle May Boat Basin.

Races are a Winner Take All from the registration fees for the 2 different classes.  Some of the rules are all rafts must be homemade, no commercially manufactured hulls, no inner tubes and all rafts must be self-propelled, (i.e., poles, oars, paddlewheels, sails, etc.) or any combination thereof.  The race is Saturday morning, May 10, at 10 am.

If you are sitting there scratching your head, try YouTube and search for "home made raft".  Plenty of ideas there and it is not as hard as you may think.

The commercial class is for businesses. The entry fee is $100 and is a 'winner take all' race. Businesses are also encouraged to "Challenge" other business' in order to promote friendly competition. You can download rules/registration form.

The non-commercial class is for non-profits, civic clubs, school clubs and individuals/families only. $25 entry fee for the team and this is also a 'winner take all'. You can download rules/registration form.

Josh Paske is heading up this Inaugural River Town Days River Raft Race. For more information contact him at jpaske@bellsouth.net or 220-7771.

Friday, May 9th, put on your dancing shoes and gear up for a return of the popular 1960’s party bands The Swingin’ Medallions and The Tams.  The Tams take the stage at 6:30 and will be followed by the Medallions.  While you listen to their great music, you can relive the “good old days” as you wander through an antique car show, with many of the vehicles dating back to the 60’s.

Saturday kicks off with the annual Great River Rummage community-wide yard sale at 7 am.

It will be a fun filled day for kids and adults.  See More Details of events and activities for the River Town Days Festival.  More will be added as they are confirmed.
