Sheriff's Investigator Chip Nix was assisting Gadsden County Investigators Billy Burkhalter and Robby Maxwell on an unrelated meth complaint. He spotted 41 year old Clinton Rogers in a truck and was aware he had a suspended license. They made contact with the couple in the parking lot of Taco Bell on Shotwell Street.
Lt Nix found meth in Clinton Rogers' pocket and marijuana on the person of 36 year old Margaret Comerford. Their 2 year old child was in the vehicle with them. Investigators ascertained that there was also an active meth lab in their residence. DEFACs was called and took the child.
Investigators went to their home on Old Whigham Road and found methamphetamine in the "cooking" process.

Lt Nix stated the cooking meth was in very close proximity to the child's bed. In addition, within reach of the child was drugs, drug paraphernalia and drug related items. The chemicals used to cook methamphetamine can and have caused death and serious health problems. Only hazmat certified individuals are permitted to handle a meth lab.
The couple obviously had no real concern for the 2 year old child.
On Wednesday morning, the clean-up crew dispatched by the DEA picked up the drugs and chemicals that were seized.
