Mr Cleveland's press release follows;

Ryan Cleveland

Ryan Cleveland, of Bainbridge, has qualified at the State Capitol as a candidate for District Attorney. Cleveland will run as a Republican for the South Georgia Judicial Circuit which comprises all of Baker, Calhoun, Decatur, Grady, and Mitchell counties.

Cleveland, 36, is currently an Assistant District Attorney and has been in that position since 2005. He graduated from Brigham Young University in 1997 and received a master’s degree in Public Administration in 1999. He earned his Juris Doctor from Mercer University School of Law in Macon in 2005. Cleveland is a member of the Georgia Bar Association, the Georgia Court of Appeals, and the Georgia Supreme Court.

Cleveland is running to restore responsible leadership to the District Attorney’s office. "I have truly been humbled by the number of people, whose opinion I greatly respect, which have encouraged me to run." He continued, "This was a very difficult decision for me to make, however, as an Assistant District Attorney, I’ve seen first hand the importance of having someone in that office that understands the importance of the job and takes it seriously. I’m not sure we have that right now."

Cleveland also discussed his commitment to public service and carrying out his duty to serve justice. "The people of Southwest Georgia have welcomed me and my family as one of their own. I feel I have established roots here and plan to stay. I have a vested interest in improving the quality of life for my wife and daughter. I commit, not only my family, but to all citizens of the South Georgia Judicial Circuit that I will not only enforce the law but devote the time necessary to run the District Attorney’s office effectively and responsibly."

Cleveland’s most recent role at the District Attorney’s office was as the Drug Prosecutor where he coordinated and trained local law enforcement to specifically address the Methamphetamine epidemic. Cleveland is a Board Member of the Bainbridge Kiwanis Club as well as a Scout Master with the Boy Scouts of America. He and his wife Janell have a daughter, Grace.
