March 29

Car Stolen, Junked, Crushed
On Monday afternoon, Sheriff's Deputy Nick Godwin responded to a call about a stolen vehicle.  Alvin Boger reported that his pickup truck had been taken from a residence on Deer Trail Road and sold to haire's junkyard. 

Alvin Boger stated that when he returned to the residence, that he shared with friends, he discovered that his truck missing and in its place on the ground was a business card of a junk car hauler.  The car hauler told him that the truck was at haire's junkyard.

Deputy Godwin and Boger proceeded to the junkyard and was told that his 1989 Ford Ranger truck was already crushed.  The case was turned over to Investigator Julian Crowder.

March 29

A Lake Douglas Road Climax resident reported a stolen weapon to Deputy Nick Godwin. the complainant stated that a .38 caliber Smith & Wesson had been taken from his home sometime between November and January.

March 27

A theft was reported from a Ward Road residence to Deputy Brett Trammell.  The complainant stated that 9 aluminum windows had been taken from her yard on this date.  Deputy Trammell spoke to several people that were in and around the property recently.  Several witnesses stated to the deputy that Michael Jenkins was the person who stole the windows.

March 26

A resident on Mount Olive Church road reported a theft to Deputy Daryl Long.  The resident stated that her C-Pap machine worth between $1,500 and $2,000.  A C-Pap machine is a treatment for sleep apnea, where a person's breathing stops while sleeping.

March 26

A Day Road resident reported a burglary to Deputy Brett Trammell.  The complainant stated that stolen from his a 1,000 foot roll of copper, worth $500, an orange Husqvarna 20" chain saw, model 465, and several tools had been stolen.

March 24

At about 12:30 pm, a dog attack was reported to Sheriff's Lt Rick Ashley.  A jogger reported that she and a friend were jogging and passed 2 large barking bulldogs at 1122 Zorn Road.  They jogged on to Highway 27 and a minute later were confronted with the 2 dogs that had gotten out of their fence.

The male bulldog chased her into the highway median and bit her on the leg.  Her male companion kicked at the attacking dogs and chased them away.  The dogs then ran back to their yard.  The responding deputies and the animal control officer impounded the two bulldogs and a puppy that was also loose.  Darren Gooding was issued a citation for running at large.  It was also determined the dogs were not current on their vaccinations.

There was a previous incident involving these same two bulldogs on Sept 9, 2009 when the dogs got loose and chased construction workers.  Darren Gooding came to the sheriff's office on Friday and stated he could not contain the dogs and wanted to relinquish all three to the animal shelter.

March 24

A Dow Jones Road resident reported a burglary of over $1200 in items to Sheriff's Sgt. Patrick Trolinger.  The complainant stated that she arrived home to find her back door damaged to gain entry.  Reported stolen were a Sony home stereo system with speakers, 2 Memphis 12 inch speakers, a watch with a brown leather band with gold face and diamonds, a RCA DVD player, a Memphis amplifier, Samsonite black suitcase and a black duffle bag.

March 23

An Antioch Church resident reported a burglary to Deputy Michael Cox.  Reported stolen was a Mossburg Camo Limited Edition 12 gauge shotgun.

March 22

On March 10, Sheriff's Lt. Rick Ashley responded to Zorn Road to a complaint of vicious bulldogs chasing the complainant.  The complainant showed him the 3 bulldogs that had chased her and wouldn't let her out of her car.  The three white bulldogs were running loose and standing in front of 1100 Zorn Road in the road.  Traffic was having to avoid hitting them. The owner, Cynthia Barnard, said the dogs had gotten loose from the kennel.  She had a previous warning so was issued a citation for running at large.

On Saturday March 20, the dogs were again out and in the complainant's yard on Zorn Road.  Deputy Michael Cox had Cynthia Barnard put the dogs back inside.  The dogs would have been impounded to the shelter but the animal control officer was unavailable.

March 21

A scam at a local pharmacy was reported to Officer Beau Harrell.  The clerk stated that two Haitian males bought a pack of cigarettes, some candy and some black and milds.  During this process, the customer handed the clerk a fifty dollar bill.  He then asked to have it back and gave her another bill.

This occurred many times and the clerk became confused.  After they left, it appeared there was about $500 missing from the cash register.  A supervisor would not come to the store and pull the video tape of the incident or the parking lot.

March 19

It was the arthritis an apparent gang member told Officer Lee Whitehead.  As he and Officer Rusty Day were making an arrest on Broughton Street, several males came down the street.  

Tu'Darry Raashod Evans, 19, of 192 Sims Street, 2D, began to throw gang signs as they approached.  When asked why he was doing so, Evans got very loud and boisterous saying he has arthritis and that's why he was doing hand signs.  He was arrested for disorderly conduct.

March 24

A burglary at a E Broughton Street home was reported to Officer Jason Barlow.  The complainant stated when she returned home she found her front door kicked in.  Reported missing were 2 DVD/Video Players, White Gold Ear Rings and Necklace.

March 23

Public Safety Officer Pat Bryant responded to a 2:30 pm 911 call that a male was beating a female and trying to run her over with a truck at Grocery Outlet.  Witnesses reported the offender took off running behind the budget inn.  Officer Bryant and GSP Trooper Brian Palmer checked the area and found James Glass hiding behind a building. Trooper Palmer ordered James Glass to the ground and he ignored the order.

Trooper Palmer grabbed Glass by the arm and again ordered him to the ground but he tried to snatch away. After being put on the ground, Glass continued to resist and yell profanities at the officers, "I didn't xxxking do anything."  He was arrested for disorderly conduct and obstruction.  Several witnesses verified that he was hitting her but the "victim" said they were just arguing.

March 23

A burglary at a Butler Ferry Road home was reported to Deputy Daryl Long.  The complainant stated this was the 2nd time the trailer had been broken into in the last 2 weeks.  $2,300 in items were stolen including a 32-inch Phillips flat screen TV, a Dell Laptop computer and a Sony Playstation III and 10 playstation games.

March 22

At about 3 pm County Commissioner Gary Phillips reported to Sheriff's Lt Rick Ashley that 3 males were throwing household garbage onto a Bethel Road property.  Commissioner Phillips approached the 3 males and told them they were illegally dumping trash.  Captain Brad Lambert arrived on scene.  The 3 re-loaded the 1560 pounds of household trash and took it to the Decatur County landfill.  Lt Rick Ashley issued the 3 Donalsonville residents, John Callaway, Eddie Williams and Jerry Stovall, each a citations.

March 22

A theft from an Anderson Street residence was reported to Officer Sam Hughes.  The complainant stated that about 250 ft of 12-2 copper wire was cut and taken from underneath his mother's house.

March 22

A McNair Street resident reported to Officer Pat Bryant damage to his home.  He stated he arrived home to find that his back door had been busted.  No items were reported missing.

March 20

At about 12 noon, Officer Beau Harrell responded to 108 South Sims Street to a found shotgun.  The complainant said her son was playing outside and then ran in and told her that he found a gun.  The shotgun was laying in some bushes next to the an apartment building.  Officer Harrell took possession of the Mossberg 12 gauge shotgun.

March 14

A theft from a resident at the KOA campgounds was reported to Officer Archie Mills.  The complainant stated he was missing a $500 Motor Guide trolling motor off of his boat, his $350 tackle box with fishing tackle, 8 brim busters, and 13 reel and rod combos were missing.   He stated his boat was parked next to his camper.

March 18

A Monroe Street burglary was reported to Officer Jason Barlow.  The 20 year old resident stated that at about 11 am, she was lying in bed and heard the back door being kicked in.  She stated that a black male then entered her room while putting on some gloves.  She watched him opening her dresser drawers and then take a silver bracelet. 

Jermaine Nundra, aka "red", turned around and saw her laying on the bed, she reported. He yelled "Oh shxx, someone is in here" and ran out the front door.  A witness outside stated he saw 2 males run out the front door and take off down Fleming Street.  He stated they were wearing all black, one wearing a black ball cap and the other had small dreads in his hair.

March 18

A Caroline Street burglary was reported to BPS Cpl Brian Boyett. The complainant stated that when he returned home that he found his back glass door broken and a number of items stolen.  The following items were reported missing- HP laptop and carrying case, Gateway laptop and carrying case, flat screen computer monitor, computer modem, Alltel internet card, Kodak digital camera and a grey CD boombox

March 18

A Sharp Street burglary was reported to Officer Jason Barlow.  The complainant stated her son arrived home to find the front door open and the back door had been kicked in.  All the bedrooms had been searched and $1,700 of items were missing.  Reported stolen was a play station 3 and 4 game controls, a play station 3 game called Uncharted, a Samsung digital camera, a Wii game, an Ipod alpine touch, a pre-paid track cell phone, and of course a jar of coins.

March 17

Frantz Corvil, 35, walked into Bainbridge Public Safety to make a theft report.  He reported to Officer Jason Barlow that he was living Narkhia Sewell at 430 Columbia Street.  He stated that on March 16 he was served him with an eviction notice by a deputy.  Then on March 17 the deputy told him he had to leave.

Corvil reported he then discovered $500 and some Florida food stamps missing from his wallet.  Corvil reported that he believed that Narkhia took the money and food stamps from his wallet and then had him evicted from her house.  Corvil was then arrested and booked for a probation violation warrant and transported to the Decatur County Jail.

March 17

A Lincoln Street burglary was reported to Sgt Jon Harrison.  The complainants stated that sometime between 9 am and 12 noon someone had kicked in the back door of the residence.  They found rooms were rummaged through and a number of items were missing.

Over $1,500 of items were reported stolen including several jars full of coins, 3 diamond bracelets, gold herringbone necklace, gold necklace with XO symbols, gold rope style necklace with gold cross charm, gold bracelet with XO symbols, heringbone bracelet, gold ID bracelet with the name angela and gold ladies watch with DKNY on it.

March 17

An Evans Street car burglary was reported to Officer Jason Barlow.  The resident reported that she had left her vehicle unlocked and several items were missing.  Reported stolen was her purse, a beaded necklace and some cash.

March 15

A car burglary on Thomas Drive was reported to Officer Beau Harrell.  The complainant stated that the vehicle was left open by her husband and her purse and wallet was stolen.  The purse is a Coach with brown shoulder straps and gold flap valued at $420 and her Coach wallet at $280.

March 13

At about 2:30 pm, a Shotwell Street business reported shoplifting to Officer Dexter Sapp.  The owner reported that 5 females entered the store and shopped around.  As they went around the store they placed items into their bags.  He reported they stole 17 pairs of shoes.  Public Safety reports that at this time 2 of the suspects or believed to be Tyneisha Rogers and Jasmine Rogers.

March 15

The back door of a residence on Wisteria Drive was reported kicked in by a realtor to Officer Collin Hastey.  The resident arrived home minutes later and discovered a number of items missing.  Stolen items included a .32 caliber handgun, a Toshiba laptop computer, gold jewelry items of clothing, a Wii Game System, Sony Playstation 2, 2 Nintendo DSI games and about 10 game cartridges.  Investigator James Dollar responded to the scene.

March 15

A car burglary on River Chase Drive was reported to Deputy Nick Godwin.  The complainant reported that a hunting rifle, a BB gun and a large purple purse used for school work was missing.  The rifle was a Remington 7mm 08 youth model 7, wood stock with a turkey engraving with a Leopold 3x9x50 scope valued at $1000.  Sheriff's Investigator Jason Williams arrived to process the scene.

March 15

Officer Brent Haire responded to a shoplifting call at a local grocery store at about 7:45 pm.  The store reported that a male with A black jacket, black hoodie and cameo pants picked up several packs of steaks and put them under his jacket.  They attempted to stop him in the parking lot but he took off in his vehicle.  Officer Kenneth Ellison and witnesses identified the suspect as Tony Butler of 708 Hawk Street.

March 15

A vehicle burglary was reported in the area of 900 Broughton Street, in the MIDS parking lot, to Officer Beau Harrell.  At about 5 pm, The complainant returned to her car and found a passenger side window busted out.  Reported missing was a CD player.

March 14

A resident reported a vicious dog on Heritage C Circle to Animal Control Officer Red Harrell.  The resident reported her small dog had been killed in its own yard by 2 bulldogs from a neighboring property.  Animal Control Officer Red Harrell impounded the two bulldogs at the Decatur County Humane Society.

This is the third incident that the owners had been warned regarding their dogs running loose from their property in violation of county ordinance.  The 2 dog owners, Kevin Bullock and David Lindsay, were issued citations to appear in Decatur County Magistrate Court.  The 2 dogs are now classified as potentially dangerous dogs.

March 14

A vehicle stolen from 1382 Booster Club Road was reported to Deputy Vincent Edmond.  The complainant stated that when she moved several months ago, that she left a 1999 Blue Ford Exhibition in a friend's yard.  When she returned to get it, it was gone.

The friends reported they had seen, about 10 days before, a bright red newer model truck pull up to the residence and take the Expedition. She stated that she did not make contact with the vehicle because she thought it was somebody the owner had sent to her residence to pick up the Expedition. 

The vehicle was described as a 2003-2005 red GMC or Chevrolet extended cab pickup truck pulling the Expedition on a trailer.  The trailer was thought to be a racecar trailer with fiberglass or metal panels around the base.  The case was turned over to Sheriff's Investigator Jason Williams.

March 14

A car burglary on 1st Street in Brinson was reported to Deputy Brett Trammell.  The resident stated that, after failing to lock his vehicle, his gun had been stolen.  He reported the gun was a 9mm Glock 17 valued at about $600.  A grey Alltel cell phone was also reported missing.  Sheriff's Investigator Jason Williams responded to the scene.

March 13

Sheriff's Sgt Steve Singleton responded to a report of a man running across a yard on Sammy Hand Lane.  The complainant stated he had heard what sounded like a four-wheeler behind his residence and then later saw a male subject walking across his front yard.  In a search of the area, deputies did not find anyone but did discover a Honda 350X three-wheeler behind the residence.  The vehicle was impounded.

March 9

A resident of the 3000 block of Fowlstown Road reported a pistol missing from his truck to Sheriff's Sgt Steve Singleton.  He reported his .357 Smith & Wesson was missing from under the seat where it is kept.  He stated that he does not always lock his truck.

March 7

A burglary of an Arnold Road residence was reported to Deputy Daryl Long.  The resident reported that the back door glass had been broken to enter the cabin.  The house had apparently been searched but the resident could not ascertain if anything had been stolen.

March 10

A car burglary behind Bainbridge Mall was reported to Officer Collin Hastey at about 3:45 pm.  The victim reported that within the last 30 minutes someone had broken out her vehicle window and a tan Gucci Coach purse had been taken from the passenger seat.

A witness reported he had seen a bald-headed black male with a goatee walking in the vicinity of the vehicle several moments before and knew the subject by the nickname "matt-rock".  Officers, knowing the suspect searched the area for him or anyone with his appearance with no luck.  The stolen purse contained 4 college textbooks.

March 9

Public Safety Officer Barlow and Cpl Brian Boyett dealt with several calls regarding a fight at Las Lomas between 2 females late afternoon.  It was reported that the fight between the 37 year old and the 28 year old was over a mother's son.

She reported the other female had told her son that he could not live with his father and her.  She wanted to know why he had been told that.  An attempted kick and hit with car door and a few fists flying all occurred before officers arrived.  Migeshia Jones, 28, was arrested for disorderly conduct shortly after the incident had begun to calmed down.

Feb 26

At about 11 pm, Officer Hank Day responded to an assault at Decatur and Potter Streets.  A 61 year old female stated that Roderick Smith had hit her several times in the face and then took off on foot.  There were cuts and lacerations on her face and chin from the assault with 1 laceration that was all the way through her mouth.

The victim reported that she was giving a drinking Roderick Smith a ride and was going for gas. She told him he needed to pay for some of the gas ad he refused.  When she opened the car door and told him to get out, he did and then Smith started punching her with his fist in her face.  He knocked her to the ground and then took off running. She drover herself to the hospital.  The case was turned over to Investigator Mark Esquivel.

Mar 3

A Dupree Street resident reported a stolen dog to Officer Jason Barlow.  The complainant stated that some one came into his back yard and took his red and white pit bull dog.  He stated that he had last seen his dog chained to a wood pole behind his house around 1:30 pm, only 2 hours earlier.  The dog was described as being red with white on his chest and paws.

Mar 3

A car burglary was reported to BPS Cpl Brian Boyett by a So Washington Street resident.  She stated that she had left her car unlocked and missing were a VCR, wallet and $5.  The belongings were found on Stinson Street with her license and other cards damaged.

Feb 28

A car burglary was reported to Deputy Brett Trammell by an Osceola Drive resident.  He reported that a car window was broken out and missing from the vehicle was a Pioneer CD/DVD combination player and a Tom Tom GPS Navigation System.

Feb 27

Illegal burning was reported at 221 Country Club Road at about 10 am.  Deputy Brett Trammell discovered 2 tires, a battery,  oil filter, mattress, carburetor and carpet burning on the side of the residence.  Henri Mills stated he knew it was illegal to burn the tires and a battery.

Decatur County Fire and Rescue to responded to extinguished the fire and a citation was issued.  He was advised to take the illegal items to the Decatur County Landfill and bring the receipt to court with him.

Feb 27

A resident reported a car burglary to Deputy Daryl Long.  He reported that his car had broken down at noon and left on the shoulder of Woodhull Road.  When he returned to get the car about 6 hours later, he found the window broken out and the battery stolen.

Feb 25

A theft was reported to Deputy Jason Williams by a Quincy Highway resident.  He reported that his 2004 or 2005 green Kawasaki Mule was stolen from under his carport.
