Nov 20

Captain Robert Humphrey responded about 11 pm to a suicide attempt by overdose at the boarding house on West College Street.  In front, he found a female that was briefly taken into custody in the drug and prostitution crackdown on November 5.

The 19 year old female admitted to snorting about $20 worth of cocaine and then ingesting 12 Tylenol PM pills and that she wanted some help.  She indicated that she had someone go get the cocaine for her and she did not know who or from where they got it.  She told the officer that she walked around and snorted the cocaine off her hand and then took the pills.  She told him that she had been living in a Colquitt apartment but was evicted for possession of marijuana.  She indicated she basically lives on the street.  She was transported for treatment.

Nov 22

On Sunday morning, Officer Jason Barlow responded to the hospital to a dog bite victim.  He stated that he was at a Talmadge Drive residence with some friends having some alcoholic drinks in the front yard.  Then everyone went to the back yard to stand by a small camp fire.  He reported that was when Anthony Tyrone Chandler's white english pit bull had bitten him.  Earlier that morning, Mr Chandler had also been at the hospital.  He was checked after his 2:30 am encounter with another dog - Koti, the sheriff's K9.

Nov 22

A knife assault was reported to Officer Demetric Stubbs.  The officer spoke with the victim at the hospital.  The 19 year old Gordon Ave resident stated his 15 year old girlfriend stabbed him in the shoulder with a kitchen knife.   Reported was that the 2 had an argument that escalated and she attempted to knife his leg.  His 15 year old girlfriend then chased him across a parking lot and stabbed him in the shoulder.  She was charged with aggravated assault.

Nov 21

Officer Archie Mills stopped a vehicle for failing to maintain their lane about 12:45 am.  The officer approached the Ford Exhibition and found a 2 month old infant in the arms of 23 year old Monica Brannen.  There was also a 20 month old alternately standing and sitting on the front console of the vehicle.  She was charged with DUI and child endangerment.

Nov 20

A Chason Street resident reported that his pistol had been stolen from his car.  It was reported to be a Rossi 38 caliber snub nose revolver.

Nov 17

A business on Powell Road reported a burglary.  Among other items stolen was a 32 caliber Smith and Wesson snub nose silver pistol.

Nov 16

On Sunday morning about 9:30 am Cpl Craig Carr responded to S. Hall Street to a female bleeding from a domestic.  Cpl Carr and Officer Rusty Day found several teenagers and an adult on the back porch arguing.  Greg Edwards shoved his brother off the porch.  Officer Day went up onto the porch and grabbed Greg Edwards and told him he was under arrest.

Greg attempted to pull away from Officer Day and he continued to order him to lay down on his stomach.  Greg continued to struggle saying "I'm not getting down".   Cpl Carr was not able to get across the small porch rail because of the struggle going on but reached up and grabbed Greg by one of his arms.  Greg snatched his arm away.  Cpl Carr pulled his taser and told Greg to stop resisting or he would be tased.   Greg did not stop.  The first tase did not lodge the prongs into him so Cpl Carr touch tased him.  Greg then said "Alright, I give up."

Officers were then able to handcuff 18 year old Greg Edwards and placed him in the patrol car.  Greg's younger sister's foot was bleeding and she stated that Greg had bit her toe.  Greg told the officer she was trying to stab him with a comb. Officer Carr asked Greg why did he push his brother?  Greg said because he had hit him in his mouth and busted his lip.  Officer Carr asked Greg why did he resist arrest? Greg said because "I ain't gonna lay on the wet porch."  But he did go to jail for obstruction and disorderly conduct.

Nov 14

A local recycling company identified the copper that was being sold to them as stolen from Thomasville.  The Thomasville facility had called on Thursday and told them to be on the lookout for approximately 1000 lbs of copper, a trailer and several tools that had been stolen.  The 2 culprits, Lathan Vanover and Henry Williamson had first brought a load of copper in at about 8 am.  They came back at about 9:45 am with another load.  BPS Officer Robert Day arrested the two for theft by receiving.  Officer Day then notified Investigator James Dollar of the incident.

A resident at 3412 Lake Douglas Road in Climax reported a $2800 E-Z-Go electric golf cart stolen.

A Hutto McIver Apartments resident reported his black Cobra 380 caliber pitstol missing from his home.

A resident in Dollar subdivision reported a number of items stolen from their home last Friday. 
Over $1000 of other items including
Schwinn Beach Cruiser
Also included were $700 in firearms
Remington 20 Guage Shotgun
22 Cal Bolt Action Rifle
Taurus 38 Cal Pistol Military Model

Nov 10

At about 10 am, Officer Robert Day responded to a store on Newton Road for an assault.  The 48 year old mother of 21 year old Orestus Miller had beaten her up and fled the scene.  She reported that they were driving down the road and Orestus began yelling at her.  She told him to be quiet and calm down but he became irate and snatched the keys out of the ignition.

She was able to coast the car into a store parking lot and walked into the store.  She stated that Orestus came up from behind her and attacked his her.  He hit his mother in the nose, left jaw, right forehead and that Orestus stomped and kicked her in the left leg.  Orestus then ran away.

It was reported that Orestus had broken his mother's nose and left ankle.  Officer Day found and arrested 21 year old Orestus Tommy Miller Jr. of 806 Bethel Road for disorderly conduct and criminal trespass.


Nov 8

At 4 pm Sgt. Jon Harrison responded to East Green Street to a fight in progress.  People there started pointing to a female getting in a blue Crown Victoria in the driveway.  When Sgt. Harrison started walking towards the vehicle, and the female started yelling  "Don't come to me mxxxxxxxxxer I'll go to jail", closed the car door and reached to start the car.  Sgt. Harrison opened the driver's door and asked what was going on.  Veronica Anderson told the officer that she was not going to talk to the fxxxxxx police because it was none of his business.

Sgt. Harrison told Veronica that if she continued to act that way, she was going to jail. Veronica then said "Take me to fxxxxxx jail" so Sgt. Harrison placed Veronica in handcuffs while still in her car.  He asked her to get out.  She told him No, I'm not going to jail.  The officer pulled her out of the car.  At the patrol car, Veronica yelled again that she was not going to fxxxxxx jail.  Veronica Anderson went to jail.
The fight was over $5 and a cell phone.

Oct 31

Officer Gary Hines responded to a robbery reported at MLK Jr Dr and Walnut Street.  The complainant said that he is in the business of selling clothes. He reported that earlier he had sold Reginald West a pair of shoes and was asked to meet back so Reginald and someone else could buy other clothing.  He got out of his car and started talking to them. 

The victim reported a black male with a handgun came out of the wooded area in front of Hutto McIver Apartments.  The victim took off running to a store a block away and called 911.  Officer Hines took him back to MLK and Walnut and found that $3500 worth of clothing and shoes had been taken from his car.  The robbers also took his car keys and locked the doors on the car.  Investigator James Dollar was called to process the vehicle.

Nov 3

Officer Archie Mills responded to a local business and made contact with Sheriff's Major Lynn Harrell.  He had taken into custody an intoxicated Martin Stevens.  He stated Stevens had urinated on the sidewalk and threw his beer down on the sidewalk.  Stevens was visibly impaired with drunken slurred speech and the odor of alcohol.  Stevens demanded to go to jail for his behavior and began to use profane words like "xxxx xxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxx" and would not stop until he was taken to jail.

Nov 3

When a female went out of town, she left her car in the yard of a friend on Love Street.  When she got back to Bainbrige her car was gone.  Her friend had assumed she had gotten her car.  The car was reported stolen.  The next day her friend called to say that he had discovered Jubal Davis had taken it and sold it to as junk.  They recovered the car from Rathels Paint and Body where they were waiting on Jubal to bring in the title.  Jubal Davis was already in jail for other charges.
