The weekend will kick off Friday night at the YMCA bowling alley as the Dream Team will sponsor Bowl with a Pro night from 8:00-12:00. So come out and have a fun filled weekend with your very own NFL Dream Team from Bainbridge, Georgia!!
The DREAM foundation, which was founded by James Butler, has added Darryl Gamble, Malcolm Sheppard and Ray Dominguez to its board of trustees. All four of these extraordinary former Bearcats and NFL players share the same DREAM for the youth of Bainbridge Georgia. They have decided to join forces and unite under the Dream Foundation to try to impact local area youths and people in the community in a positive way through various projects they will sponsor and public appearances they will be making. Their first joint project was coming together at Christmas and sponsoring Wal-Mart gift cards to local elementary kids at each school.
This union was proposed by Coach Kelvin Cochran. "I was trying to figure out how not to diminish what James has started and done over the years but wanted to help the other three guys role expand from just coming back and helping during the youth football camp as they did while in college." Cochran said. "I figured if the guys come a board with what James has established that would give the DREAM Foundation its very own Dream Team of former Bearcats and NFL players pushing one goal and one purpose and that's to impact the youth and community in a positive way."
"What a blessing and privilege for Darryl, Malcolm and Ray to make it to the NFL, represent our community and give our town national publicly. These men exemplify what can be done when you have a dream and work hard at it. Butler stated. "I am honored that these young established men are joining the DREAM Foundation so we all can have a greater impact on the community that gave us so much!" Butler stated that they all have one common goal and that's to be positive examples for the athletes that come after them.
"It feels great to be able to join a great group of guys that I grew up with and know that they share the same passion to give back to a community that we all grew up in. I m looking forward to this journey we are going to take in helping out the youth of Bainbridge Georgia" Gamble said.
About joining forces, Dominguez said, "I am honored that James has extended his hand and asked us to be a part of the DREAM Foundation. He has made a name for the foundation on his own and now together we can take it even higher by continuing to support the youth of our community, the same community that help mold us into the people we are today. I am truly fortunate to be in the position to finally give back."
Malcom Sheppard also appreciates the opportunity stating, "I believe all of us joining together are going to have a great impact on the Bainbridge community for all the young people of Bainbridge that we are able to reach as we provide great leadership and events that will have a positive impact on them. I respect and admire Ray, Darryl and James and I am really excited for us to work together and do whatever we can do in Bainbridge to give back. Being from Bainbridge I know what this means to the youth because I knew what it meant to me to see people from our home town succeed. Seeing Butler s accomplishments motivated me and my brothers and all the guys we played with that the opportunity is there with hard work and sacrifice. Bainbridge is home and will always be home to me so having the opportunity to be a part of this union is very special to me and I am excited about it."
