Fourth grade students at Elcan-King Elementary recently participated in the Four-way Rotary Essay Contest. This event is one of the annual service projects conducted by the Bainbridge Rotary Club for fourth graders in Decatur County.
As they prepared to write their essay, the participants were asked to ponder the following: “Of the things we think, say, and do… Is it truth? Is it fair to all concerned? Will it build goodwill and better relationships? Will it be beneficial to all concerned?”
Dr. Rayfield, Jasmine Robinson, Hannah Sprenkle and Jerrod Byrd After the panel of five teachers and one administrator scored all essays, the panel discussed the results and came to the consensus that there were three winners. Dr. Fred Rayfield, School Superintendant of Decatur County Schools, made presentations to participants on Wednesday, May 2nd. There were a total of 58 participants
The First place winner, Jerrod Byrd, received an Ipod Shuffle, a certificate, and a medal.
The Second place winner, Jasmine Robinson, received a fifty dollar savings bond, a certificate, and a medal.
The Third place winner, Hannah Sprenkle, received a twenty dollar cash prize, a certificate, and a medal.
All 58 participants received a 4-Way Rotary t-shirt.
