Hutto Middle School was fortunate to receive a Robotics Lab through the 21st Century Community Learning Center grant. The Robotics Lab supports the STEM initiative which is designed to integrate Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
Students in the Robotics Club have the opportunity to design, build, and program simple robotics machines. Students must utilize their skills of spatial reasoning and following directions. They are also learning how to use simple programming language to instruct a machine to perform various tasks.
The Robotics Club allows students, with an interest in engineering, an outlet that translates into a desire to stay in school whether they are high achievers or at risk. The program at Hutto Middle School currently has 5 robotics kits that support 15 robotics students. Dr. Joe Miller is the faculty sponsor for the robotics lab.
