The date for the Decatur County Kindergarten Registration and Screening has been set for Thursday, May 3, 2012.  A child MUST be screened before he/she can be enrolled in public kindergarten.  A child must be five (5) years old ON or BEFORE September 1, 2012, in order to be eligible to be registered for public kindergarten.

The screening/registration will be held at each of the five elementary schools.  A parent MUST register the child at the school for which he/she is zoned.  Any exception to attendance in zone must be requested during Choice Week to be held June 18 through June 22, 2012.  Any questions concerning correct zone can be answered at the individual schools or at the Board of Education Bus Shop.

In addition to their child, parents will need to bring the child’s certified Birth Certificate, Immunization Certificate, Social Security Card, and proof of residence to the registration.  Acceptable proofs of residence include current rent receipt, power bill, water bill, or, if living with a relative, a notarized letter with one of the previously named bills attached.  If a child has not completed his/her immunization, the Health Department should be contacted.  Please note that the completion of the Hepatitis B series (3 doses) and Varicella (2 doses) are part of the required immunization.

The registration/screening will be conducted between the hours of 8:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. on May 3 at each elementary school.  Parents should report to the school’s office.  Parents will not need to make an appointment for the screening.
