Students at Grace Christian Academy spent some one-on-one time with some very interesting Georgia inhabitants recently. The visitors were from the Georgia Southern University Center for Wildlife Education.

Mary Glenn Warr introduces the Madagascar hissing cockroach she is holding to fellow students. They hiss by forcibly expelling air through breathing pores when threatened. They are one of the largest species of cockroaches and often kept as pets.

The Center for Wildlife Education and The Lamar Q Ball, Jr. Raptor Center is located on 12 forested acres in the heart of Georgia Southern University campus in Statesboro. The Center has a collection of native and exotic animals including: hawks, owls, eagles, vultures, frogs, snakes, lizards, turtles, opossum, and skunk. School groups may schedule field trips September through June. The Center also offers a variety of special events, teacher workshops, overnight camping adventures and outreach
