Jones-Wheat Elementary hosted the Annual Retired Teachers’ Breakfast on Tuesday, November 17th.
Mr. Ralph Jones, Superintendent welcomed everyone and gave a special tribute to those teachers who had passed away in the years. Dr. Sydney Cochran, Chairman of the Decatur County Board of Education offered the blessing after which a delicious breakfast was served by the JWE lunchroom staff. The Pledge of Allegiance was lead by fourth grader Latisha Venisee – Cosby. Dr. Butch Moseley, retired superintendent, presented a proclamation from the Decatur County Board of Commissioners honoring the retired teachers.
Dr. Larry Clark, JWE Principal, presented an insprirational reading followed by a powerpoint presentation highlighting Jones-Wheat Elementary. The powerpoint also ended with a memorial to the late Mrs. Sue Hollis, a retired Jones-Wheat teacher who passed away over the summer.
Dr. Linda Lumpkin closed the program after the door prizes were presented. Other students assisting with the program were Kale Thomas, Allah Fuller and Natalie Edmunds.
