As I sit here in my office writing this, I have just left the hospital. I was given the sad news of a dear lady that just passed away. Everyone knew her as "Aunt Dee".
Now she wasn't my aunt, as a matter of fact, I did not know her as well as I would have liked to. But in just a few conversations, it did not take long to figure out the quality of this godly lady. Now I'm not qualified or even worthy to try and sum up her life; but this is what I believe about "Aunt Dee".
Her life reminds me of the school teacher who decided to run in the Boston Marathon. She trained hard to run that grueling 26 mile race. On the day of the race she encountered several obstacles along the way. Several miles from the finished line she was exhausted, struggling to make it. Late at night, long after the race was over, she was a few hundred yards from the finished line, she found energy deep within her and crossed the finished line. She did what our example, Christ, did on earth, she kept looking at the goal, not the going. Looking at the prize, not the process; the treasure, not the trial; the joy, not the journey, she crossed the finished line into the arms of our Lord Jesus.
What an inspiration. We need to keep our eyes on the GOAL!
