Bainbridge College will celebrate International Education Week Nov. 17-21 with special events at both its Main Campus and Blakely locations. Activities range from belly dancing and a fashion show to student presentations and a talk by BC’s first Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence.

Volunteer models show garments from various countries as Lori Kuhn-Hancock narrates at a previous Bainbridge College International Education Week Fashion Show at the BC Early County Site.

Activities are open to the public at no charge. Most take place in the Student Center. More details about activities are available by calling 229-248-2560.

The Early County Site will center its activities in the Atrium on Tuesday with a fashion show of international garments after the presentation by Dr. Maria Chumovitskaya, BC’s Fulbright scholar who teaches art appreciation this semester.

The Fulbright scholar kicks off Main Campus events at 11 a.m. Monday with her presentation, “Religious Art.” At noon BC offers the opportunity to have one’s name written in other languages, including Chinese, Russian and Hebrew.

At 11 a.m. Tuesday the international band, Just Us, will perform. The Main Campus International Fashion Show is set for noon Wednesday followed at 1 p.m. by a belly dancing demonstration.

Four faculty members will talk about their experiences in “The Faculty Roundtable Discussion on Belize” noon -2 p.m. Thursday. Then at 2 p.m. other faculty members and students will present “Passports, Visas, and Immunizations: Preparing to Travel Abroad.” Throughout the week the college offers study abroad information in the Arts and Sciences Building and special displays in the Library.

At 3 p.m. Monday-Thursday “Citizens of the World” features various BC faculty and students speaking on their international experiences. These will include presentations on China, Russia, Germany and a student singer.

Involved in international education and study abroad opportunities for many years, Bainbridge College now has a new International Education Club Web site.
