Since November 2004, when the animal shelter was turned over to the Bainbridge-Decatur County Humane Society, funding has been a constant concern.  Many fund raisers have been held, both by the Humane Society and others groups in the county.

Now, with your votes, our Humane Society has the opportunity to win $10,000.  Care2's "America's Favorite Animal Shelter" contest will award voters' favorite local animal shelter or rescue group the grand prize, which will go a long way to help the shelter.

"Ten thousand dollars would make a huge impact on the kinds of support we can provide to our animals," said Beth Eck. "We encourage all of our local supporters and citizens to visit the web site and vote for us."

Register Online and Vote:
Participants must have a valid personal email address to participate and may only register once. Only one vote per Participant.   You can also invite their friends (via email) to vote for our shelter.  The contest runs through November 1, 2008.

Care2 (Care2.com), the largest online community of people passionate about making a difference, is holding the contest with Adopt-a-Pet.com to bring public awareness about the plight of homeless dogs and cats, as well as recognize animal shelters and rescue groups for their outstanding efforts in animal welfare.

School children have taken up the cause and participated in the Pennies for Paws campaign, while others collected food and other items. Some classes collected money and joined the Humane Society. Churches have donated items needed and also held fund raisers.

Some businesses have collection jars located in their business for the shelter. Individuals have made donations of money, items and time to the shelter and now you can them receive a prize worth $10,000 without spending a penny.

The contest aims to raise awareness about the importance of supporting pet adoptions and taking action to save homeless animals' lives. All participating animal shelters and rescue groups, including our animal shelter, are part of the Adopt-a-Pet.com network.

"We commend groups, like the Bainbridge Decatur County Humane Society, which support the welfare of animals," said Randy Paynter, CEO and founder of Care2. "We are excited to work with Adopt-a-Pet.com's network of shelters and rescue groups to support a cause that really matters to our members and so many others - the welfare and adoption of animals."

Help our shelter receive the most votes nationwide and win the $10,000 grand prize.

Care2 is also giving away a total of $5,000 to the next four groups with the highest votes.  Adopt-a-Pet.com is awarding prizes of $1,000 at random each week during the contest period to ensure every shelter and rescue group has a chance to win, providing our animal shelter another opportunity to support its causes.
