Bainbridge College communication professor and best-selling author Wynton Hall appeared on C-SPAN2's nationally televised live broadcast "Book TV" for a panel discussion on "Great Books to Read in College."

Appearing with him on the panel at George Washington University in Washinton, D.C., were Regnery publisher Marji Ross and Jed Donahue, senior editor at Crown Forum, a division of Random House.

"It was an honor to share the stage with Jed and Marji," said Hall of the Aug. 4 event. "I particulary enjoyed fielding questions from the bright students who made up our audience."

The approximately 280 students in the audience were part of a national conference hosted by Young American's Foundation, a student organization devoted to furthering the ideals of individual freedom, a strong national defense, free enterprise, and traditional values.

"At Bainbridge College we have many inspiring young writers.  When students ask me to improve their craft I always tell them the same thing: "Great writers are great readers.  Read great books!"

During the C-SPAN broadcast, Hall recommended that college students read nonfiction classics such as Allan Bloom's The Closing of the American Mind, Richard Weaver's Language is Sermonic, and William F. Buckley's seminal work, Miles Gone By.

Hall, 32, is the author or coauthor of four books, including his latest, The Right Words: Great Republican Speeches that Shaped History.  The book tells behind the scenes history of the famous GOP orations from the likes of Presidents Abraham Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, Dwight Eisenhower, and Ronald Reagan.

Professor Hall, who has taught at BC since 2002, has had his work published in the New York Times, USA today, Washinton Times, and numerous other publications.  He has appeared on more than 75 radio programs throughout the nation, as well as international media.  He was interviewed in July for a British Broascasting Corp. (BBC) documentary that will air across Europe.
