Bainbridge resident Dewayne "Wayne" Shiver has been appointed as the events coordinator for the Kirbo Regional Center at Bainbridge College and will work with Vanessa Arthur, who begins duties Sept. 1 as director of the regional center.
"Bainbridge College is delighted to have both Vanessa and Wayne on board for the Kirbo Regional Center," said BC President Dr. Tom Wilkerson. Wayne also has an extensive background in events coordination and will be a real asset to Kirbo. He will assume his new duties in August."
Shiver, who has been with the BC Technical Studies Division since 2002 and served as education and career manager, will work closely with Mrs. Arthur for the logistical aspects of center's multiple activities.
As BC education and career manager, he has substantial experience with a variety of events, including designing and implementing the Summer Educator Academy, a week-long training session for area public school personnel, that ran for several consecutive summers. Participants received training in learning styles, career guidance and counseling, work ethics, business and industry trends and how to use computer technology in their classrooms.
Shiver has also served as coordinator of the Tech-Prep Consortium program at BC and worked with high schools in Decatur, Miller and Seminole counties with dual enrollment opportunities for classes to earn high school and college credits in a variety of subjects.
Majoring in education, he earned his associate degree from Bainbridge College, his bachelor of science degree in trade and industrial education from the University of Georgia and a master's in administration and supervision from Troy State University.
