South Georgia Heat Fast Pitch Softball team took second place in the 2008 UFA World Series. The Championship game was played on July 19, 2008 in Cordele.

Front row Left to right: Sabrina Granade and Kristen Bennett; second row : Morgan Powell, Brittany Simpson, Dani Edmondson, Hanna West, Maybre Boyles;third row: Coach Chris Simpson, Summer Lesuer, Suzanne Devalle, Martina Pearce, Laura Lee Flournoy, Tiffany Hand, Mandy Watson, Coach Chad Bennett

All the young ladies contributed to the success of the tournament. The team hit the ball well with a batting average of 319 and an on base percentage of 443. The high on base percentage was the result of some smart hitters that find a way to get on base.

Every one of the team members had a hit or a sacrifice. The solid pitching and smart offense exhibited by the players led to the success of the team.

South Georgia Heat was formed in October 2007, they have learned a lot and made great improvement in tournament ball over the past nine months as demonstrated by recent wins. Coach Chad Bennett and Coach Chris Simpson are very proud of all of the young ladies.
