The Bainbridge Rotary Club has honored many club and community members for their 'Service Above Self' acts. Today the Rotary Club honored several of the returning men and women from the Georgia Army National Guard 1230th Transportation Company. The 1230th returned to Bainbridge after completing a mission to Iraq.

"It's a privilege to share a dinner table with our local heroes." Rotary President Dr. Don Robinson stated. In November 2007, the Rotary Club hosted a Thanksgiving dinner for the families of the soldiers that were in Iraq. Today was the Thanksgiving dinner that the soldiers missed. "You weren't able to be with us in November because you were serving us overseas. The Thanksgiving dinner that we initiated at that point, we're completing today, now that you have returned." Robinson said.

Guest speaker for the dinner was Jack Wingate who Robinson referred to as the 'Sage of Seminole' who related his personal experiences in the Navy during the Korean War. Wingate also expressed his thanks to the 1230th members.
