The kindergarten classes at West Bainbridge Elementary enjoyed the 2008 Progressive Ag Safety Day on Thursday, May 8th.  Students in Mrs. Lyle’s class, Ms. Zotyka’s class, Mrs. Culverson’s class, Mrs. Mills’ class, and Mrs. Godby’s class benefited from the field day.

These students participated in seven different rotations while learning how to stay safe and the importance of safety practices rather on a farm, ranch, or home.  Students took part in hands-on learning activities while receiving t-shirts, take home bags filled with safety materials, snacks, and a day filled with fun learning activities.

Georgia Power representatives provided safety classes on electrical safety, 9-1-1 representative provided 9-1-1 information, and the Decatur County Fire and Rescue provided Fire Safety Classes.  In addition, students also participated in bicycle safety, sun and water safety, chemical look-a-likes, and germ/ hand washing safety.

The Ag Safety Day is made possible by the national sponsorship of Progressive Agriculture and with the sponsorship of many others.  The Progressive Ag Safety Day is presented each year locally by the Decatur County Farm Bureau in conjunction with the Decatur County 4-H Program.
